Good thing my girlfriend didn't want to watch the series anymore because she was scared or else she would've questioned my masculinity when I cried out like a little girl at... that moment.

Not one scary moment in this whole episode. Can easily get through this holding a hot cup of tea. Cool episode, constructive dialogue, nice character development, all that. Yep, nothing to worry about.

The monologue that Theo (Kate Siegel) delivers towards the end of the episode is incredible.

I know everyone complains about the monologues but I loved hers.

The whole series thus far gives me chills while watching which has never happened over the hundreds horrors shows or movies I've watched. This episode had it all. Great dialogue by Theo! I'm also happy to see Hugh finally tell Steve what is really going on. I've flinched a couple of times during the series and that's the most I've ever done.

Then the moment near the end, I literally jumped from the couch screaming. My wife never heard me scream before. The flashy scares are so unexpected and not predictable on this show, but are well placed and seem to have meaning to the story. It seemed like Nell is not happy with her sisters and she's letting them know.

    Great episode!

Watching this on my tablet with headphones in on full blast my son couldn't be sure whether it was me or the sound of the scream from the iPad - I think it was just a very sharp intake of breath but have literally never jumped like that before in my life!! Heart pounding for several minutes afterwards.

The way we have become invested in the story to this point and the quality of the dialogue brings, what under normal circumstances, would be a cheap jump scare into a moment of true horror history. I'll be recounting that moment for many years to come!

Great show, deserves to win a host of awards!

... you got me. This episode draws you in from the beginning and keeps hold until the credits. Excellent character development and insane performances from everyone, including Oliver Jackson-Cohen, as always. But I have to give applause specifically to Kate Siegel. She was such a powerhouse in this episode, made me feel like I was involved and I have to admit I teared up. Between the yelp and the tears it was an emotional roller coaster but well worth it. Be on your guard ;)

I literally made an account just to review this episode. I've never jumped that suddenly before from terror. THAT scene was so well placed, unlike the constant cheap jump scares you get with most horror movies/tv shows lately. This one was actually integral to the story. But damn, that got my heart going.

Wow...this was probably the best episode of the show for me so far. The dynamics between Steve and his dad and Shirley and Theo were great. Hugh and Theo finally are able to get through to the only family members that don't believe the house is really haunted and the family is just crazy. Props to Kate Siegel and the great Timothy Hutton for their performances. I am usually not a huge horror person, but this show definitely does it the right way. I watched this episode on my laptop with earphones in, so the scene Shirley and Theo are talking in the car and Nell's ghost pops up out of the back seat out of nowhere may be the most startled I have been from any movie or TV show in my life. This show is a breath of fresh air for sure.

    Greetings from Lithuania.

"Witness Marks" was another superb episode of "The Haunting of Hill House". What carried this episode was a very solid writing of a superb story, great directing and acting as usual, and a powerhouse performance at the end by Kate Siegel - that was something you won't see every day on a small screen cinema.

Overall, with only 2 episodes left, i really looking forward to see how it will end. But as series that are made this good, i would hope to see it more then only 2 episodes. Great show.

I'm 38 years old, I've seen hundreds of scary movies, and I've never screamed at anything in my life - until this episode. I managed to freak out my husband, my kids, the cats, the dogs and myself. Very very well done.

Ever since episode 5 I have been seeing a strange figure whilst attempting to fall asleep. It's a girl much like the one from Rings, however she is sitting on a swinging bench inside a cage. Now I don't know what it's there for but I certainly know that this show can take the full blame for my increased horror images I observe at night. Well I'm petrified to say that this episode may just have made these images a heck of a lot worse for me.

As we approach the end of the series the powerful storytelling is slowly progressing towards an absolutely horrific conclusion that I am yet to know of at the time of writing but I am still courageous enough to sit through the episodes of fear and anxiety.

This episode is, to this point, the most shocking and truly brought out the darker sides of all of the characters of Hill House. Our extended knowledge of these characters proves for the worse, however, as the evident denial and growing hatred between one another only serves to emphasize such moments and makes us empathize in those moments making it an even scarier watch. This episode proves to be unpredictable only to our weaknesses and breaks down any strengths and immunities we may have built from the experience of prior episodes

    DO NOT WATCH THIS ALONE
