In my film class we watched this, along with A Movie by Bruce Conner, and Chronic by Jennifer Todd Reeves. It was part of our "Short/Experimental Films" Unit. I'll admit that at first I was taken aback. I didn't know what it was about. I hadn't heard of it. And all of a sudden I am attacked by a wave of blatant female sexuality. Which I suppose I should have expected, going to an all girls college.

Once I let myself adjust, which may be immature but I needed a moment to react on my own before I reacted as a student, I realized how visually creative it was. It put together flashes of sexual innuendos, images of women in lingerie, and things along those lines. The stories being told were all from women, about sexual experiences as children, not negative, but things that children do which aren't always viewed as being sexual. There were also many personal accounts of interesting things that they had experienced, and most of these accounts never even mentioned men.

My feeling is that it was to be a statement, because women are generally considered sex objects. They are playthings of men. And although some of these accounts were presumably from lesbians, a lot of them weren't. The fact that a heterosexual woman does not need a man to be satisfied on its own is shocking.

I think this movie is a college students' movie. Film majors and Women's Studies majors would benefit the most, but Sociology and Psychology students as well should look into it. It's enjoyable, but also makes many statements about society, women, and sex.
