In the shot where Sunny's head hits the wall, Miranda Moffat's head actually hit the wall with full force because Nick Banko tripped when the shot was being filmed. Both Jesse McAnally and Nick Banko felt so bad that they nearly halted production indefinitely. However, Miranda claimed she was fine and the scene was finished that day.

The house used in the film was actually a historical building in the city of Romulus where the movie was filmed. The director had to receive permission from the city of Romulus as well as the Romulus Historical Society before he could even enter the building.

The scene in the graveyard was re-shot twice.

Two copies of The Great Gatsby were used throughout filming. The first one was destroyed while filming the cemetery scene.

The Great Gatsby shirt used in the film actually belonged to director Jesse McAnally. It was a Christmas gift from Miranda Moffat. After every day the shirt was used in shooting, Miranda washed it herself to ensure no permanent damage was done.

In the scene where Ben and Sunny hold hands in the montage, they actors are actually screaming about how uncomfortable they are. The original sound was not used in the film.

Jesse McAnally was originally in the role of Lt. Curry, however it was decided that he sounded too young. However, he is still physically playing the role.

All of John Thiede's dialogue was recorded in his living room and dubbed into the scene later.

Paul Emil Levasseur based the score and original song of the film off of the music from Juno (2007) and 500 jours ensemble (2009)

The post-credits scene was filmed while Jesse McAnally, Miranda Moffat, and Rose Lovelady were on vacation. Rose was told she would be in the film the day before it was inevitably shot.
