The pothead Ashton Crawford (Andrew James Allen) and his girlfriend Gretel (Molly Quinn) are smoking in her room special marijuana called Black Forest supplied by the drug dealer Manny (Eddy Martin) and produced by an old lady named Agnes (Lara Flynn Boyle) that lives in Pasadena. Gretel's brother Hansel (Michael Welch) arrives home and Gretel tells that she will bake gingerbread cookie while Ashton will go directly to Agnes to buy more Black Forest. However Agnes is a witch and captures Ash to eat his flesh and drain his youth to maintain youth.

Gretel seeks her boyfriend out and suspects of Agnes, but the police officers Ritter (Lochlyn Munro) and Hart (Yancy Butler) do not give credit to her words since Ritter knows that Ash is a pothead. Meanwhile the gang that supplies weed to Manny learns that he is selling Black Forest to his costumers and they threaten him and their leader Jorge (Joe Ordaz) sends a message to Agnes through Manny. However, the drug dealer is turned into a zombie by Agnes and Jorge and his gang pay a visit to her and are also turned into zombies. Soon Gretel and Manny's girlfriend Bianca (Bianca Saad) decide to break into Agnes' house and they learn that she is a powerful witch. Meanwhile Hansel goes to Agnes 's house to look for his sister.

"Hansel & Gretel Get Baked" is a horror dark comedy about a group of potheads and a group of drug dealers that have their lives entwined with a witch that sells weed. The politically incorrect theme might be funnier for teenage potheads but the plot is funny and the situations works reasonably well. I did not recognize Lara Flynn Boyle, one of the most gorgeous actresses until the turn of the century and now with a totally deformed face by plastic surgery the same way Melanie Griffith and Meg Ryan did. Now she is the witch without make-up. Time is cruel for everybody but it seems to be crueler for those that try to keep beauty and youth at any cost. I have also not recognized the beautiful Yancy Butler, but she is aging with dignity. My vote is six.

I am impressed that I made it through the entire movie. The sad part is that I think want kept me watching was Lara Flynn Boyle's face. I can't figure out if she got some kind of illness or if she just went crazy with the plastic surgery, but either way, its sad and hard to stop staring. Back to the crapfest of a movie, about an old lady who lures teenagers to her house by selling them weed and then of course, she kills and eats them to regain her youth. This movie was a total snooze fest. I thought it was going to be funny, it wasn't. I also thought it might be a little scary, not even a little. Definitely pass on this on unless you're curious to see Lara's new face.

This is the second alternate twist on the Hansel & Gretel fairytale in movie form that I have seen today. Two very different interpretations indeed, where the other was gory and bloody, then this is more laid back and has a darker comedy twist to it.

"Hansel & Gretel Get Baked" is about the siblings Hansel (played by Michael Welch) and Gretel (played by Molly C. Quinn) who end up having to fight for their lives against the witch Agnes (played by Lara Flynn Boyle) - just as in the fairytale. However, the witch here is using weed to lure in the youngsters, not candy.

Well, I will say that this was a rather radical approach to the fairytale that we all know. And a rather bold approach, I might add. But still, it worked out well alright as director Duane Journey managed to pull it of nicely enough.

However, for a comedy, then there weren't that many laughs about in this movie. There was comedy yes, but it was more sort of a subtle and perversely, dark, twisted type of comedy that might just not suit everyone. I mean, for example, the witch Agnes here turned out to have a Nazi background - where did that just come from? And also the deal with the zombies? I didn't fully grasp that concept, and mind you that I am a huge zombie aficionado, but they just didn't feel at home in this particular movie.

"Hansel & Gretel Get Baked" is an enjoyable movie because of its radical take on the classic fairytale. But the movie just never really excelled and stood out of mediocrity. It is good for a single watching if you are looking for something simple to watch and just unhook your mind.

On the plus side, for a semi-stoner movie, then I will say that "Hansel & Gretel Get Baked" actually fared a lot better than many other comedies in the stoner genre.

I noticed Cary Elwes was listed on the starting credits, but somehow I failed to catch him in the movie. Where exactly was he?

"Hansel & Gretel Get Baked" is horror/comedy directed by Duane Journey which stars Lara Flynn Boyle, Michael Welch, Molly C. Quinn, Edward Zo and Bianca Saad. Actually there are a lot of cool lesser known actors in the film that have some cool moments on screen but for me the story focused more with Lara Flynn Boyle's fun and comfortable portrayal of a stoner witch who eats kids to maintain her youthful beauty. The story is as you would guess a modern day retelling of the classic Grimm story. Quite frankly I cannot believe it took this long to make this sort of movie because it just seems that the pot community and the story of Hansel & Gretel where meant for each other especially as seen in this film. Also don't let the comedy part through you off because this isn't one of those funny flicks that relies heavily on the spoof shtick blatant puns. The humor here only comes from the simple and expected funny sh*t that stoner films are known for. Mostly this film stays with a classic 80's homage horror theme complete with gory effects, creepy build-ups and dark chilling overtures.

The story is simple and interesting leading into this sticky, gooey tale of a witch that lures children into her home so that she may eat them. Only this witch is the kind that you would really want to get high with and Lara Flynn Boyle plays the part perfectly. The slight nuances and interactions between her and other characters made it obvious that she enjoyed playing this role. The characters of Hansel and Gretel are also pretty believable on screen. The story manages to be witty and smart with plenty of representations from the classic fairy tale present but in a very fresh concept. I mean seriously it seems as if this story should have been a no brainer years ago. I have to say if anyone dares to see any movie with "Hansel & Gretel" in the title make it this one! It manages to be a fun original spin on the concept without seeming hokey, plus the elements of horror are far more impressing than you may expect. It manages to use a darker wicked humor which brought the funny without the ridiculous. I plan to add this flick to my 4.20 celebration as the final piece on my day of horror to get high with!

I saw a poster of this movie in a mall: there was a gingerbread man smoking a blunt, and I thought it was cute and funny. I decided to give this movie a chance.

During the first ten minutes, the movie seems the typical horror-oriented (well, this is what it aims for; it obviously misses its point) comedy written by a pair of pubescent 13-year old boys. You know, boobs, weed, bad jokes and even worse music. But no, oh no, it gets much worse. The plot is dull, the acting is awful, the characters are the stereotypical boneheads you find in each and every bad horror movie: the hot blonde, the ghetto girl, the stupid hunk and the smart geek. Wow. Brilliant.

I can't even begin to describe how awful this movie is. Maybe that's what the producers wanted? Making a parody of an actual film?

If, as I previously stated, you're a 13 year old boy who likes weed, energy drinks, bad jokes and centerfolds, congrats: you can survive watching this movie. To everyone else, there are many better things you can do to fill this hour and a half. Take a walk, bake a pie, I don't know. Don't waste your time on this!

Before watching I was waiting some boring Scary Movie-kinda thing (actually the first one was pretty funny)... Then I got interested.

Movie is full of funny slasher etc. moments and acting was just great. Simple idea and all but it was put together very well.

Got many laughs and all, movie somehow went totally on its own way. Glad too see that.

And that dope thing was well done not really like in many movies here it was really funny.

The main idea of this simple movie was very good and everything.

Sadly I didn't like the end it was very very Not a surprise.

But overall in mainstream case i'd give this 6.5/10 funny and not too teenager movie at all, just funny. Not waste of time if you like this genre.

A brother (Michael Welch) and sister (Molly Quinn) battle a witch (Lara Flynn Boyle) who lures teenagers into her suburban home with her special blend of marijuana where she then proceeds to kill and eat them to maintain her youth and beauty.

I was mildly drawn to this title by the cast, and then further encouraged by Aaron Christensen's review calling this a "spliff riff" and giving it modest comments. Frankly, with this sort of concept, anything better than complete rubbish is all we can ask for... and this definitely ranks above anything in Full Moon's "Evil Bong" series.

Some things about the film are terrible. Well, okay, many things. The lack of plot, the lack of humor, the weird subplot about the witch being a Nazi refugee that never seems to even get addressed... nor do we find out why she is involved in the marijuana business in the first place...

It was great to see Cary Elwes in a cameo (even if he does not get a credit on IMDb for some reason). And it is nice to see Michael Welch branching out (we had another horror, "Demented", released about the same time). Unfortunately, this can only be seen as a step down for Lara Flynn Boyle... are her days on red carpet over?

The film is set in contemporary Southern California. The film opens with a seemingly endless montage of visuals of medical marijuana prescriptions. Eventually, we shift to a meter man reading usage at a house consuming a huge amount of wattage. He decides to investigate a bit more before calling it in. This turns out to be a mistake.

Hansel and Gretel are brother and sister in an upper middle class house. Their parents are away for a while at the beginning of the film. Gretel and her friend Ashton are in her bedroom sharing a sample of weed ('Black Forest') while they listen to music. Hansel comes home and is not amused. He goes up to chat with them, and they decide to make gingerbread after Hansel describes Black Forest Cake. Ashton goes to get some more Black Forest from the little lady who lives in Pasadena (where else...). Agnes is willing to sell him the weed and to get him some munchies, as long as he does not touch her gingerbread house.

Ashton does eat some of it, and is knocked out by it. He awakes to find Agnes basting him. She starts eating him while he is still alive: first an eye, then roasted lower leg. Gretel makes a lot of calls since she expects him back. Next day, she starts asking his stoner associates where he might be. She gets Agnes' address from Manny, then convinces Hansel to drive her there. Agnes manages to fend off her inquiries.

The police call the power company to ask about a missing van about to be towed. The company acknowledges this, and the van is towed. Hansel and Gretel call the police, but the interview does not go well since they are unwilling to provide specifics about Manny, or Gretel's own drug use. Officer Hart takes Agnes' address anyway. Gretel is disappointed; Hansel is resigned.

Agnes seems to be more of a succubus than a cannibal. Sucking Ashton's spirit out of his body seems to do more for her than eating his flesh.

Carlos decides to horn in on Manny's action with the Black Forest High. Manny goes to Agnes and tells her about Carlos' demands. Agnes is unimpressed. She sends Carlos an insulting message, then kills Manny. Gretel posts signs about Ashton. Carlos, Jorge, and Octavio visit Agnes. This proved to be a bad idea for them.

The power company continues investigating the power spike. Sam's son (one of the stoners who gave up Manny to Carlos) divulges the location of the new weed, and Sam reports it to her boss. He personally continues the investigation from the power usage angle.

Gretel and Bianca decide to look for Ashton and Manny at Agnes' house. While Bianca talks to Agnes, Gretel breaks into the basement, and searches. She finds a piece of shirt that she recognizes. Soon she finds Octavio, or at least his voice. Agnes prevails again.

Hansel heads to Agnes' house once he sees Gretel's text. The police get a missing person's report on Ashton. The power company is zeroing in.

Will Agnes maintain her household against all these challenges?

Cinematography: 7/10 Mostly excellent, but many of the interior shots were not so good.

Acting: 6/10 Molly Quinn, Lara Flynn Boyle, Reynaldo Gallegos, and Yancy Butler were all fine. Bianca Saad was rather fun. Michael Welch, Lochlyn Munro, and Eddie Martin were almost OK. Andrew James Allen and Claudia Choi were terrible.

Screenplay: 6/10 This one had a few continuity errors involving time of day. Some of the plot motivators were really weak. Also, just what did the power company contribute to the whole matter? The opening seemed like the film was to be a full-on stoner film with no other considerations, which turned out to be false.

The plot is simple. Agnes (Lara Flynn Boyle) is a witch who grows some righteous weed called "Black Forest" that all the kids crave. She allows them into her house and extracts their youth from them, which causes their demise.

The film starts out like a fairly decent stoner film, break out the milk and gingerbread cookies. It has some decent comedy, dark comedy, and slasher moments. About half way through the film the writers got a block.I kept waiting for Hansel (Michael Welch) and Gretel(Molly C. Quinn) to come together and turn this into a good witch fight. As it turns out Hansel is a minor character while Molly has to carry the film by herself. Don't get me wrong, she did well for the lousy lines she was scripted, with her red hair and looks making me ache for Laura Prepon. It was a good idea that was squandered.

Parental Guide: F-bombs. No sex or nudity. Not even a simple cat fight between Lara and Molly rolling around on the floor.

Molly C Quinn, the hot little strawberry blond from Castle, is Gretel, while Michael Welch (know to the Twilight folks specifically and to zombie fans with his role in Z-Nation) is her brother, Hansel. Gretel, her brother, and her boyfriend all love smoking pot. There's a "cute grandma" selling pot and brownies not too far from where they live…yeah, she's a witch. She has the ability to drain "youth" from others, and so potheads arriving at her door offer the perfect victims to "suck dry". Lara Flynn Boyle, at first in old age makeup, soon has returned to her 40s thanks to the youth of Andrew James Allen (Gretel's beau).

Part of the comedy is how busy the knocks at Boyle's door become. At one point she just shoots two cops who answer concerns of missing people possibly tied to her (Yancy Butler and Lochlyn Munro in small, but humorous, supporting parts…part of the joke is that the film builds them going to the house only for them to be "dispatched" rather quickly), while her gory mistreatment of Allen is particularly gruesome (eye gouging with a fork she pops in her mouth after the fact and she chews on meat sawed from his leg, throwing a chunk to her dog!) and prolonged. A couple of victims (including a drug dealer of her weed who becomes too much trouble and a trio of drug supplying goons outraged with her selling on their turf) turn into zombies and go after our young dope-head heroes. You just have to see the throat slashing (it goes over the top by having the victim jerking and bleeding like a stuck pig) and an upside down "blood drain" (through the use of a hose turn spout!), not to mention, the ole "yank out the heart" gag are included for extra ultra violence. Boyle keeps the face straight although the part is absurd. She literally goes into the oven and even makes out with Latina babe, Bianca Saad, at one point, as Quinn searches throughout her house for the boyfriend. Boyle even has a bomb shelter converted into a pot farm! Cary Elwes is barely recognizable as a meter man who picks up a black cat seemingly abandoned and pays for it. As you might expect, there's plenty of "pot humor" to go with the grue. Definitely a kitchen sink movie.

This movie really sucked. The main actress was a plastic pile of bug poop. I can't believe I rented this I smoked it's pot and I can't believe I ate the whole thing. This film was incredibly disappointing. I remember having more fun vomiting. The product placement was so bad it literally took the place in my mind as worst I've ever seen and keep in mind film maniacs I've watched haunting of the innocent. I'm dead serious. I think with conviction and with 100 percent truth instead of watching this again for free on Netflix I'd rather choose to be water boarded by my most hated enemies. Even if I was high "Which I was not" I would still give this 2 thumbs down. The cheese cake factory, skittles, apple. Directors are you kidding me with this. Do yourselves a favor and stop making movies. All of you who had anything to do with this including team members

My friend recommended this one to me, but I really needed some strength to sit and watch it all.

Acting was OK, actors gave what they had.

Plot, well was there a plot? Since film was crap, I might as well use some time to talk about legalization of marijuana.

I think it is a positive thing. In many countries and states of the Unites States marijuana is legal for medicinal use, and in some countries and states it is becoming legal for recreational use. Since tobacco is legal for purchase in all of those countries and it is proved to be very harmful, and marijuana is proved to have medical positive impact it is very illogical to have tobacco legal and marijuana illegal. Hence legalize marijuana and criminalize tobacco, eh?

I really enjoyed the movie, although it contains some disturbing scenes, it is very good and teaches some things about drug addiction that often 90% of people die.

After her pot-head boyfriend disappears around town, a teen and her brother trace him back to a local witch using magically-enhanced marijuana to attract youths in order to remain young and must put a stop to her actions.

Overall this one was a lot of fun if slightly flawed here. For the most part, the fact that this is a horror/comedy yet nothing here is really all that funny is the biggest issue since this one is really only funny for the fact that everyone here is a raving pot-head, including the supposedly innocent lead. For anyone who does not find drug-related humor funny in the slightest, much of what happens here where everyone acts completely stoned and out looking for more marijuana won't in the slightest bit seem funny or appealing and it just really tends to wear on some who don't offer up anything else here to really get a handle on. Still, outside of this facet the film provides plenty of exciting and enjoyable elements throughout here which come from the fact that this one's built more as a straight-forward horror film with a goofy-sounding device to set things in motion as if this one dropped all the drug jokes it's a perfectly enjoyable effort about a witch using the drug to lure those in the community over to her quarters. It plays a lot of these scenes straight about the witch's powers getting stronger and stronger as it goes along as there's some fine story lines about her expanding magic to charm those into letting her go, the addition of zombified slaves that she controls for peace and security reasons and the ability to get younger-looking as time goes on which makes this a lot of fun when these are out and about. As well, there's plenty of fine action here in the basement as the use of charmed marijuana plants that act as guards and trap intruders, a fantastic play on the original story where they get away from the ravenous guard-dog and the final fight in the basement all make this one quite enjoyable with some fine action scenes needing to get away from the witch and making the finale a lot better than it should. Likewise, this one really gets a fine boost from the fact that it plays along so well with the fairy tale throughout here that it certainly comes closest to telling that particular tale better than expected considering the additional material it utilizes in tying it all with pot instead of candy. Along with some fine gore from the early kills and an engrossing mystery angle searching for the missing boyfriend that takes up the majority of the first half here, this one comes off as highly enjoyable that would've been better had it been played straight.
