Short summary

After his friends all go their separate ways, Joey Tribianni leaves New York for Hollywood to pursue his acting career full time. His sister Gina buys him a nice apartment, and he finds a new roommate in his 20-year old nephew Michael (Gina had him when she was 16), who is literally a rocket scientist. Michael's book smarts and Joey's people smarts allow them to help each other out whenever they can, and make them nice companions.

In the 2nd season, 22 episodes were made but only 14 episodes got to air.

Adam Goldberg, who plays Michael's father, Jimmy, also guest starred in a few episodes of Sõbrad (1994) as Chandler's new roommate after Joey left.

After the show was canceled, the set was obtained by Mecklenburg EMS Agency, the paramedic service for Charlotte, NC. It is used in training simulations for EMTs and Paramedics. Cameras record their performance on simulated patient encounters so they can be reviewed.

All episode titles begin with the words "Joey and the..." except for the pilot.

Kevin Bright is the only one of the three creators that have moved on to work on "Joey." Marta Kauffman and David Crane have not continued to work on "Joey" though they still receive credit for creating the character of Joey.

Jennifer Coolidge, who plays Joey's agent Bobbie in the series, guest starred on Sõbrad (1994) playing a different character, Amanda Buffamonteezi, an old friend of Monica and Phoebe's - she lived in the building before Chandler moved in Sõbrad: The One with Ross's Tan (2003).

Ashley Scott was let go in June 2004 when her character, Allison, a potential love interest for Matt LeBlanc's Joey, tested very poorly at the pilot screening in May 2004. Producers have decided to develop a new love interest.

Joey is filmed on the same sound stage on which Sõbrad (1994) was filmed. Soundstage 24 at Warner Brothers studios in Burbank, CA.

In every episode, Joey's Magna Doodle has something different drawn on it:- . Joey: Pilot (2004) - a bird; looks like a phoenix rising from the fire/ashes. . Joey: Joey and the Party (2004) - a goat eating out of a garbage can, in front of the Hollywood sign. . Joey: Joey and the Party (2004) - a hula dancer. . Joey: Joey and the Perfect Storm (2004) - a snail saying, "Weee" as it rides on a turtle's back. . Joey: Joey and the Nemesis (2004) - a scene from Aesop's Fable, "The Fox and the Grapes." (The fox, snapping at the grapes, just out of reach). . Joey: Joey and the Husband (2004) - a dragon. . Joey: Joey and the Dream Girl: Part 1 (2004) - a cowboy riding a bomb through the air (scene from Dr. Strangelove). . Joey: Joey and the Dream Girl: Part 2 (2004) - in the first scene it was the same cowboy riding a bomb that was used in the previous episode. After that, it was a killer whale jumping over someone in the water... who looked a lot like Gumby. . Joey: Joey and the Big Audition (2004) - a stunt rider on a motorcycle. . Joey: Joey and the Roadtrip (2004) - lilies and a hummingbird. . Joey: Joey and the Plot Twist (2004) - a dog peeing on a frightened snowman, instead of on the nearby fire-hydrant. . Joey: Joey and the Taste Test (2005) - logo for Fox Motocross Gear. . Joey: Joey and the Premiere (2005) - a family walking beneath the night sky. . Joey: Joey and the Assistant (2005) - BMX biker on a half-pipe. . Joey: Joey and the Tonight Show (2005) - a guy in a hospital bed; a dog sitting nearby; the number 428. . Joey: Joey and the Valentine's Date (2005) - a bulldog sitting on a chair.

Matt LeBlanc and Andrea Anders began dating after the show ended, ending their relationship in 2015.

Alex's full name is Alexis Julia Garrett. Joey's full name is Joseph Francis Tribbiani.

English actor Jamie Dodd has been called in six times to audition for a role on the show. They wanted him, but could not find the right character for him.

Drea de Matteo plays the mother to Paulo Costanzo (Michael), while in fact she's only 7 years older than him.

Bobbie says Joey's name the same way his first Agent Estelle used to say it, with the emphasis on JO-ey.

Matt LeBlanc and Lucy Liu share the screen again as a couple for the second time in Joey (2004). The first time they shared the screen together was in Charlie inglid (2000) and Charlie inglid: täie rauaga (2003) where Le Blanc also plays an actor like Joey.

Even though this show is a spin-off of Sõbrad (1994), none of the other main cast members from there make an appearance on this show. However, David Schwimmer, who played Ross, did direct two episodes.

The problem with "Joey" so far? The minds behind the show seem to have forgotten why we, as viewers, were so taken by Joey Tribbiani on "Friends."

As an idiotic buffoon, he was primarily a great comedic foil for the other characters, especially Chandler, and occasionally would have a solid storyline showcasing that side of him.

But it was the episodes showing that his heart was bigger than his brain -- like the one where he took Rachel out on a dinner date -- that gave Joey real depth and gave viewers a real reason to love the character.

In either case, though, Joey was just 1/6th of the equation, and the character was only asked to carry 6-10 minutes of any given episode, at the most.

Here, they're trying to make Joey carry the entire 24 minutes because, as it stands now, the supporting characters aren't compelling enough to warrant strong independent story lines of their own. And we haven't seen enough of the scenes that show Joey's heart.

It's not a problem that can't be fixed. I think they need to lay off some of the more stereotypical character jokes (Joey dumb, nephew smart, sister tough and oversexed) and put them in situations that are funny, but also make us care more about them. As it stands now, you could almost write the script with adjectives instead of character names, because the characters' natures so rarely change.

Personally, I'd love to see an episode where the supporting cast gets together to plan a surprise birthday party for Joey, with everybody having their own ideas of what to do, but ultimately we find out that none of them really knows Joey as well as they think they do. Something like that would be a great learning and growing experience for the show, its writers, and its characters.

But hey, that's just my opinion.

First off - this is NOT Friends, it will never BE Friends, it SHOULD never be Friends. These simple facts are probably also what most people have against Joey. I don't. I think it's 'Joeys' strength. Joey is a character we've come to love and respect during those past ten years, now that he's 'come into his own' a lot of the plot centers around him and only around him. This is of course the biggest change from that previous show, it is also absolutely necessary. For 'Joey' to work the character has to evolve, Joey himself has to mature and no longer only be the grown-up kid he has been. He is no longer the comic-relief guy who amazes us with his juvenile ways and amazing stupidity. He simply HAS to grow up. And grow up he will. To be honest, I too was skeptical after watching the pilot. But after I got over the facts that I already described in the first sentence of this comment, I just sat back and heartily laughed at the comedy displayed. Just remember these simple things - Michael isn't Ross. Alex isn't Monica, Gina isn't Rachel. Joey isn't Friends, Joey is Joey - and he's growing up. Be happy that you can laugh about it with him.

Did people keep comparing Frasier to Cheers? Of course not. It was a completely different show. I saw the first two episodes last night and was impressed. I like Gina and Michael and I especially like his agent, Bobbie, played with gusto but the ever talented Jennifer Coolidge.

Out of all the characters, Joey stands the best chance of making it alone and I really think people need to let the show move through the natural teething problems that it will have. It's NOT Friends, just the same as Mork and Mindy was NOT Happy Days. To compare the two is asinine. Will it be better than Friends, who knows. Remember that Friends had it's own teething problems in the early days and was not necessarily the greatest show on the planet. Star Trek: The Next Generation was absolutely lousy in the first season. That moved on to spawn one of TV's greatest shows. Hell, The Simpsons was not great in it's first season. However, a show will never work if all people can say is "This is not Friends"!!! Give it a chance. It's worked for Angel from "Buffy"!

"Joey" is better than I thought it would be but still not a great show like "Friends." The main problem is that they took the show's dumbest character, Joey, and have turned him into the lead of a major sitcom.

Joey and Chandler were my favorite characters on "Friends" and their subplots allowed the show to take on a new humorous edge, so that the "main plot" (almost always focused around Rachel and Ross) could be spliced with scenes involving Joey and Chandler.

Their chemistry is what made the show so great, but having just Joey in a show is a bit of a problem since, well, to be honest...he's stupid. I.e. he is so stupid that it's hard for us to imagine him succeeding at anything.

The problem with this is that in "Joey" they change his character very much. He's smarter, a bit different. Still dumb, but not as dumb. And I just felt like I was watching an entirely new person. It wasn't Joey. It was Matt LeBlanc saying funny things every now and then.

To be fair the show is watchable and entertaining. It has some good jokes. But it's a bit too obvious. The lines are too explosive and, yes, unrealistic. Every line of dialogue has a witty comeback remark, or is a setup for a joke.

Like when Joey says he's too old to go to bars any more. "Plus, I have a problem telling if they're gay bars or not. By the way, if Ramone calls, I am not here!" It's too sudden, too obvious. Instead of feeling as if Joey's just stupid and innocent (as he was in "Friends"), I felt as if here he was really stretching to be obvious and make people laugh, which is actually a pretty big problem.

Overall, a good show, but you can tell just by the opening credits that it's in a whole other world apart from "Friends."

What the guys at NBC have done is take the most laugh-out-loud character from friends and tried to give him his own character. Lets not forget that in Friends he had 5 other main characters to fall back on and countless others. A lot of whats happened in Joey has been a reflection to what happened in the earlier seasons of Frasier. 1) A big move to a new city 2) Previously unseen family members crawl out of the woodwork 3) A new unavailable love interest.

It is obvious to me that the writers have looked to Seattles finest for inspiration, but i don't think so far that they've looked hard enough. When Frasier left Boston he had a change of direction in career which gave us the often hilarious radio phone-ins, the double act with Ros and a score of other brilliant minor characters (Bulldog, Kenny etc.)

Joey on the other hand has the same life more or less just without Chandler and the others. Sequences of Joey on set which once took about 5 minutes of a Friends episodes these now are the basis for whole episodes. His contemporaries extend to his sister, nephew and neighbour and occasionally his agent(played by a horrifically over-the-top Jennifer Coolidge) this means he is continually conversing with the same few characters which can draw repetition.

I only refer to Frasier so much as it it the benchmark for all spin-offs as it became arguably better than the original show Cheers. And for Joey to carry on it needs to flesh out its characters and its story.

However i find no fault in the enthusiastic acting from the regular cast. Joey is the same lovable fool and Drea Di Matteo is brilliant in her role as Gina. Although i criticised the show quite heavily i enjoy every episode and really wish that Joey will be around for a long while. I just know how fickle audiences are and don't want joey to fall into the category of shows that could have done great but got cancelled.

I started watching "Friends" several years into the series, so when the show ended and "Joey" was announced, I thought I would give it a try. I was glad I did.

California is the perfect setting for Matt LeBlanc's clueless Joey, and Paolo Costanzo plays his nerdy nephew, trying to learn to be the suave ladies man from his Uncle Joey, to a T. I look forward to seeing how this show develops.

The weakest link is Drea de Matteo's character, Gina Tribbiani. Although Ms. de Matteo does an admirable job, her character is too abrasive and annoying to become endearing. She almost makes me long for Janice. Hopefully, Gina will mellow a little bit, or better yet, take a few steps back and allow Joey and Michael to shine.

I was obsessed with FRIENDS. I counted down the hours until the next show would come on. I've seen every episode and own every DVD. When the last episode premiered I almost cried myself to death. When Joey came on I felt like the show was reincarnating. I had to watch it so I could keep FRIENDS in my heart. I did and it was great. I now love the show. I think Joey in LA is a great idea, and Paulo as the nerdy nephew trying to be a lad's man is brilliance. I like Gina a lot. But I think her character needs to chill out a little. You know, I love the whole-Jerk strong women but I think it needs to slow down a bit. Also I would say they need to get going with something. Someone has to meet someone. It just seems as if the show is going nowhere. Every episode there's a new girl. (I know thats what Joey's all about but still.) At least with Friends You had the same boyfriend/girlfriend on/off thing going. Monica/Richard, Rosa/Rachel. The show has perfect chemistry, and I think it could go far, but only if the writer's stay on their game.

"Joey" and "Friends" are the best TV shows!!! From three of the executive producers behind the mega-successful hit series "Friends" comes the highly anticipated new comedy "Joey." Multiple Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award nominee Matt LeBlanc reprises his "Friends" role as charming and still-single Joey, who has struck out on his own and moved to Hollywood, hoping to truly make it as an actor.

Joey says goodbye to a time when his friends were his family and welcomes the chance to turn his family into his friends. After reuniting with his high-strung sister Gina (Emmy winner Drea de Matteo, "The Sopranos"), a strong and sexy hairdresser, Joey moves in with her genius 20-year-old son, graduate student Michael (Paulo Costanzo, "Road Trip"), who literally is a rocket scientist. What Joey lacks in book smarts, however, he more than makes up for with his people skills, making him the best new friend his nephew could ask for.

OK, if your like me, and your a fan of Friends, you might be expecting something similar in Joey. When the Pilot was released I was lucky to find a copy of it some time before the series started, and to be honest, I was not to happy. The jokes in the first few episodes about Joey tended to be a bit unfunny, with most of the jokes being aimed at Joey's sexual habits or his stupidity or Drea De Matteo's Breats.

Many of the jokes are similar to Friends, yet these just didn't feel right. However, having seen the first 10/11 Episodes now, the show seems to be finding its feet. In fairness to the show, the casting is great, with each of the actors being well placed in who they are.

It seems quite strange that none of the Friends cast has made cameos yet, although I have noticed that a number of episodes have been directed by David Schwimmer.

Despite being about its title character, Joey, I cant help but feel that some of the episodes should have some emphasis should be on the other characters similar to how 'Frasier' does this with their characters, with sub plots that happen over the episodes.

All in all, its been a rocky start to Joey, and although its getting better, I still feel as if it should get funnier, as compared to other sitcoms, the jokes do not come so thick and fast. Whether this series will last as long as friends is yet to be seen, but on the whole, this is turning out to be an enjoyable series, if not as great as others.........Yet.

This series stars Matt LeBlanc as Joey Tribbiani, in a spin off show from the hit series "Friends". While all the other characters from this classic sitcom (Phoebe, Rachel, Monica, Ross and Chandler) moved on to bigger and better things, Joey was still stuck saying "How you doing'?" for another year. Big, big mistake on Matt's part to do this show, he should have taken the risk and moved on to other films and TV, but instead he stuck to where he was comfortable, and stayed with Joey. All the jokes had been used before, and you could spot them coming a mile off. To the concerned viewer: you have ten whole series of Friends to watch, why move on to Joey? Do a Matt LeBlanc, and stick to what you are comfortable with.

I did not expect another "Friends", but I did expect funnier dialogue. The script seems somewhat flat, and the so-called funny bits seem to elicit laughs of the forced variety. One reviewer commented that people didn't compare "Frasier" to "Cheers"; there really was no need. "Frasier" may not have had the same writers as "Cheers", but it was still fresh and witty. "Joey" does not boast the golden team of writers that "Friends" had, and perhaps that is where it's lacking. These writers aren't really digging for subtle or original humor- it's a rehash of just about every other sitcom that's been before. And I'm sorry, but that's not humorous- that's regurgitation.

If you loved Friends you have to watch Joey. You probably had a favourite friend and for me that was Joey and Chandler. So when i first heard of a Joey spin off i actually started wishing Friends would end so i could see a full 20mins each week of just Joey. Well the wait is over, after watching the first 22 episodes i just cant get enough. Each week Joey is there relaxing in LA doing his thing, picking up women, dumb as dog s**t but funny as hell. Alex, the cute neighbour quickly becomes friendly with Joey and she really is something. Hotter than Rachel but so so sweet and innocent looking, everything about her makes her hot. The weird mother son relationship between Gina and Michael is sometimes disturbing but also funny. I would love to see Chandler drop in one day but don't want him to bring Monica along because well she just got annoying in the end. Joey is just the same but we see more of him, what is there to hate about that? Its just the best show ever. Here's to another decade!

The show started out okay. It wasn't Friends, but it was okay. Through the first season it actually got better. Then over the second season it went down.

The characters weren't as good as the gang in Friends. Friends was fun because the characters were all funny in unique ways (Pheobe's weirdness, Monica's OCD, Chandler's humor...). In Joey, Gina's the only one that's remotely close to the level the gang was on. And Joey's rarely the core of the humor in Friends. He's usually there just to show off some dumbness, his eating, and his luck with women. In my opinion, that's why putting him in the center of the play was a bad idea in the beginning. You can't be funny just by making mean jokes of people being stupid all the time. Also, it looks more sad than funny that Joey's 35 and still such a baby. Come on, Chandler became a good husband, Rachel became independent... why no change in Joey?

Also, the show mainly rides on some ridiculous plots for humor. Bobbie wasn't as fun as Estelle, and Bobbie's character can't be any more unreal, but Bobbie's actually one of the funnier characters in Joey. The character development is incredibly weak, the jokes usually just come from showing off how insane these people are. And they made a terrible decision with Jimmy. The actor (same one for Eddie, as in Chandler's crazy roommate) looks incredibly annoying by default, and made Jimmy's character extremely unlikable. I mean, this is like making Janice a regular in Friends. Sure, she's entertaining, but can you stand her if she's in every episode?

And I think that's when the show went down.

It was kinda sad watching Friends end. I always wondered how their lives would turn out to be, especially Joey's, given he's still single. But after seeing this crazy world life that looks like a Las Vegas fantasy, I kinda agree with the people who said that it's better if we don't continue the story of Friends. It's not gonna be the same.

Okay I didn't want to compare this show with friends when I just wrote this, but I can't help it... So if you just want to watch a comedy show, this is not a bad one, but don't expect this to be the 11th season of Friends.

Matt LeBlanc has a unique way of acting. He has a charm that can't just be passed over. You can hardly imagine that he could be in some other way in the real life. :) His character fits him so well, that you can't just think about him as being a... let's say, serious person. He's gorgeous. Drea de Matteo is also unique in her way, of protecting her 'boy' and seeing things. Although she is sometimes annoying for the two, she always succeeds in being loved by them. She plays very well the role of the protecting mother. Even if she's kind of insane sometimes. Paulo Costanzo also acts very very well. I liked him first in "Road Trip". He's very smart but he never had a girlfriend, although he looks very well. They all fit very well in that family. Good choice, producers!!!! It's really cool!!!!! We want more!

Let's face it: Joey isn't that funny. I still watch the show every Thursday hoping it will get better.

I think that the actors are good, but their talents as comical, whimsical characters aren't exploited in the writing. Since a few of the writers worked for "Friends" you'd expect the show to be alright, but it definitely is not. Sadly, the show gets progressively less funny every week. I only laugh out loud once or twice per episode, and sometimes I don't laugh at all, or change it to watch the OC. It's kind of depressing. I'm 100% positive that I could write a better show than any of the ones I've seen thus far.

Why was "Friends" funnier? BECAUSE IT HAD SUBPLOTS, story threads, and clever banter, all of which Joey is lacking. The show has the potential to be good. The question is: do the writers want it to be good?

After the pilot I was disappointed. No more Friends magic, just a standard comedy show with highly predictable standard jokes. But from third episode on the show really improved and now I am just as addicted to it as to Friends (which just can't get boring, no matter how often seen). Gina is softening up a bit, Michael has picked up some sarcasm. Jennifer Coolidge is always a joy to watch and Andrea Anders is just sweet and very funny. For me especially the episodes David Schwimmer directed totally bring the friends feeling. Guest star Lucy Liu as neurotic producer is brilliant, her having to knock when Joey knocked cracked me up. I hope it lasts!

First off, Joey as a show was fantastically comedic. The storyline was fun to follow, the comedy was average but still laugh-out-loud, and it was a spunky sitcom to watch when you just wanted a laugh. I do not wish to compare Joey to Friends as most people seem to do. Joey premiered 2 months after the teary-eyed finale of the ten season hit, and viewers were still in mourning and not ready to move on. This was the major contributing factor to Joey's initial criticism. Once people got into the spirit of bashing the show in an attempt to mourn the loss of the six Friends, everything Joey did was not suitable in their eyes. Joey continued in a two year downward spiral as viewers lost interest and ratings declined.

With that said, Joey was a good show. Its comedic timing was more or less on cue, and it was worthwhile to watch. Friends fans had expectations that were too high. With that being said, I am Friends' biggest fan. After finishing the show, I was unstable and not ready to move on, searching for all Friends related material to get lost in. I watched Joey, and immediately fell in love with not only the old Joey, but his new colours and all of the other supporting characters, especially Alex. It was a fun time following the storyline of not only Joey, but the lives of all of his 'new friends'.

Joey was no Friends, but I don't think it ever wanted to be. It tried to be its own show, but ended but unsuccessfully filling the void in Friends fans' hearts. Overall, Joey was a light- hearted and wholly show on its own, but it wasn't able to fulfil the pedestal that Friends had put it on.

I love love love the character from "Friends" Joey Tribbiani. He is both warm & funny. I was so looking forward to his new show "Joey". Like Kelsey Grammar's character from Cheers, I was wishing him the same success. The 1st episode was OK. But as I tried to keep watching follow-up episodes, I was disappointed. I honestly couldn't even make it through the short 30 mins. Some of the characters on the show just don't compliment his humour. I recently watched an old Friend's episode titled "The Girl Who Hits Joey" w/the actress Soliel Moon-Frye. Why not bring a character like that to the show or better yet why not bring that actress!!! She's really funny, with a lot of spunk! There are so many great actresses from the 80's & 90's that we just don't see anymore. Angie, Ontario Canada

    Review about the show Joey.

This is the first time I am writing a review for a sit-com. Guess most of it I owe it to Friends because Joey was my Favorite character on the show, Joey and Chandler together were hilarious and today when I look back and see almost all of them unemployed, A part of me dies inside. They did gave us a lot of memories especially Joey. I to this day think that the friends ended was almost perfect with just 1 flaw and that was Joey not having anyone in his life and Chandler and Monica moving into a countryside house and Ross and Rachel together(FINALLY), Pheobe already married to Mike.

Now in all this whom did Joey had???The answer is simple and that is nobody. Some part of it was answered by the show Joey where in Joey moves to LA to pursue his acting career. Makes a good friend in Alex. (Super cute). And his extended family in Micheal (Too Boring) and his sister Gina (she is smoking hot). And yes there's that agent Bobby also but I don't find her part very important though.

Joey as a show is good, Not Great ,It has its own moments of Joy and that feel good nostalgia but again It would be impractical for me to compare Joey with Friends. I'll try to be as impartial as I can be but some real disappointments that I have seen on the show are for 1 the set they use – An Awesome gallery(with a bath tub, very very cool, depicts the modern LA culture) but then Joey's apartment ,during the first 10 ten shows all I get to see is the living room and the open kitchen. This isn't cool. I am not comparing it to Friends now (where we got to see 2 living rooms, sometimes 3 with Ross apartment in the picture but moreover the bedrooms of Monica, Joey, Rachel, Chandler etc) but some other famous sit-coms like Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men and the recently concluded How I met Your Mother (also had glimpses of kitchen, Bar, Ted's bedroom, Barney's Apartment). All these shows display an entire house/apartment which makes the viewer believe that it is actually a day to day based sit-com and not a TV set with a couple of couches in a room and actors hanging out there . Another problem with Joey is that although Matt LeBlanc is at ease with his portrayal of Joey, All the others have a very little role to play in it ,have for eg Michael- He really needs to calm down from being the Geek he is, wasn't the whole point of him moving in Joey was to pick up girls and live his life independently . This is where the whole plot gets misguided. Now Alex ,her private life is hardly shown here , I mean not 1 scene about her life with her husband . Gina (super hot) and yes sparkling with her enthusiasm is one plus point on the show. The humor content hasn't been also up to the mark like after watching straight 10 episodes of season 1 ,I barely can recall 1 scene or 2 that had my heart laugh out, Now in Friends(Yes, I know I shouldn't compare the 2 but still) I remember the show when Joey had gone to an audition where he really had to rush to the washroom but the casting director/ actor din't let him go and joey gave the performance (LOL), Another instances involved where Joey and Chandler got the Chick and Duck, The one where Joey had his head stuck inside a Turkey and lots and lots of them. Even after writing so much criticism about the show I'd still continue to watch Joey Season 1 and will also download Season 2 of it.All this just for Matt Le Blanc. And last but definitely not the least I hope to see Joey say it to Alex- How You Doin'??

    Cheers

Joey was a terrible sitcom: it took who was the goof-ball of the Friends clan and threw him into a whole new situation and relocated him from New York to LA. NBC were probably hoping that because Frasier was a spin-off from cheers, they'd been assuming that by repeating this method, lightening would strike twice for them... it didn't.

Though in regards to its flaws, where do I start? well, for one the jokes were lame and were in truth not funny and the writers seemed to recycle and rework any old friends material and incorporating it in the show;secondly, the characters were weak- you just couldn't really identify with them. In a good sitcom, there would usually be one characteristic trait that either makes them different, stand out from others, or of which there is something to say about each one of them. With Joey however, there was absolutely no connection, no spark, they had basically nothing of which we could say about them. Thirdly, the biggest mistake NBC made was in implying that Joey could make that transition from a so-called supporting character into a main one.

There was really no way that Matt Le Blanc's character- being a goofy, jokey person could really be regarded and perceived as a lead sitcom character. If that was the case, then joey would've developed into a slightly maturer character when he was on Friends alongside Monica, Rachel, Ross, chandler and to some extent the slightly 'hippy' Phoebe. But he didn't. Having said that, this sitcom could've been the ideal platform for the writers and creators to further explore and develop Joey's character- instead, what we have here is the same Joey Tribianni, who likes to joke about as he did on yep, Friends and of whom does not much else. And finally fourth, when NBC and the writers thought that because the Friends concept was so good, they thought it would work in this sitcom- big mistake because if you compare the other characters in Joey to Friends, characters such as Gina- Joey's sister for example, lacked,as i said earlier, personality and real depth to carry it off. Even though I wasn't a huge fan of Ross, Rachel and company.

I was surprised when this sitcom was renewed for a second season because Joey was a poorly scripted show, which failed to address its mistakes. Of course, certain people expected Joey to be a similar type of show to its predecessor, Friends. It certainly wasn't. NBC expected that ratings for this sitcom would be consistent and on par with Friends. It didn't.

Overall,Joey is a forgettable sitcom which is littered with an array of errors and a sheer lack of substance in character development. Hence, this is an example of how NOT to write a sitcom spin-off.

I have to say Joey is the next greatest show after friends. Joey still has his charm in an all new location. From the pilot episode to the next one, I have laughed my ass off. It is great. I just don't wanna wait until next Thursday to watch it again. I definitely won't miss one episode of this show. It is marked on my calendar so Thursday nights are all booked up. I love his sister and his nephew, and the blond lady - Allison i think. Oh this is just to die for. A few on my friends have watched it and have been just as pleased so if you are a die hard friends fan, give this show a try you won't regret it at all. I hope this show lasts just as long and it only will get better.

So, having seen the very first episode...

If you're one of those people who has seen every episode of Friends many times, and or collects Friends memorabilia on eBay, then you'll probably enjoy Joey just fine. This new show offers, once again, Matt LeBlanc in the eponymous role, playing the same goofy, amiable numb skull he played on Friends for, like, fifty years. LeBlanc hasn't missed a beat (after all these, uh, three months), and if nothing else, his performance feels comfortable and familiar: we know Joey, we like Joey, and even if the show isn't brimming over with rapier wit, the whole experience has a pleasant, anodyne quality.

Which is a good thing, because, not unlike the first season of Friends, the wit is in short supply. The script of the first episode felt like it was written in an hour, and some of the jokes were wince-inducing. What few laughs the episode produced were from LeBlanc's typically hammy performance, which, for some reason, I still find somewhat amusing. The rest of the cast, while seemingly capable, are stuck playing the same sitcom family stereotypes we've seen a thousand times. The poor Drea de Matteo is wasted as a sassy New Yorker single mom, a sort of cross between the wife on The King of Queens and Fran Drescher.

Overall, the experience wasn't horrible, and quite frankly, was more enjoyable than the first episode of Friends. If you aren't fond of Friends, you'll like this show even less, but fans of that first show may as well give it a chance.

It's taken time to warm up but I think "Joey" is just great. The last few episodes shown on Five in the UK have been really strong and the characters all seem to be interacting perfectly. In the episode when Joey gets to go on the Tonight Show we get the best of all the characters. Jennifer Coolidge who plays Joey's agent, Bobbie, is hilarious. It's just good, honest, sit-com fun and the soundtrack puts me in a good mood immediately. They made the right decision to make this spin off series because it would have been a shame to see Joey Tribbiani disappear from our screens. I hope it keeps going from strength to strength.

Is there going to be a season 2 of Joey?

I live in Denmark and i don't now. If there someone out there who now about it. Write it. I have to wait so long on the show, because i live so far away.

I think joey is a great comedy show and i'm exited and wondering if there's going to be a season 2. Many people in Denmark loves the show an enjoy it. I don't understand why people think: That sucks. Joey rocks. that is the best comedy show right after FRIENDS.

My top 5 of best comedy shows: 1. Friends 2. Joey 3. Two guys and a girl 4. Dharma & Greg 5. Will & Grace

So tell me: Is there going to be a season 2 of Joey? I will love it, if they make a season 2

I really didn't know what to expect from this show, but after the Dallas taxi incident in the first episode, I was convinced it was going to be a show worth watching. Now, after watching 10 episodes, I'm still not disappointed about the quality of the show. I was afraid that, subconsciously I would draw comparisons with the Friends show, but this show has such an atmosphere of it's own, that that's not the case. I've seen some bad comments about this show, which I really don't understand. It makes clear that the definition of 'a great TV show' varies from person to person. Anyway, I like the show, I like the characters (especially Alex, the cute blonde neighbor) and I hope we can enjoy this show for a long time to come.
