Vanessa and her friends want to attend a rock concert by The Wretched, their favorite band. Knowing they'd never be allowed to go alone to the venue in Baltimore, over 100 miles away, Vanessa tells her parents that they're having a slumber party at Susan's house after the show and Cliff and Clair agree to this. But a series of developments conspire against Vanessa, starting with one of the girls taking her brother's car without permission; it gets stolen during a snack stop in Delaware.
