Short summary

Death flies in to collect the soul of a murdered young woman, but first takes revenge on her killer. After replacing all of the incriminating evidence -- the bullets, the smoking gun, even the murderer's fingerprints -- Death takes a moment to place a very special phone call. Here the supernatural vengeance truly begins.

For "My Skin!" Tony Simmons returns as Death. I can understand why Broadstone chooses Simmons. Not only was he perfect for "Scream For Me", but he is a versatile actor as well. If I didn't read the credits, I would never have recognized him as the same actor in a hundred years.

This story takes place on September 12, 2001 which I found a bit odd (the day after 9/11). Maybe it's coincidence, but I don't think so. And it has a very strange version of Death, this time wearing a bird mask and actively changing events in another person's life. I've never seen a representation where Death was so full of spite -- he's usually just depicted doing his job.

But this leads to a philosophic interpretation of murder. Who has the right to take another life? According to Death, only him -- no person or state has the right to do what he has been granted the power to do. I found this a very interesting concept, and Broadstone's power as a writer shows again by this consideration that most people wouldn't entertain. While not quite as good as "Scream For Me" (this is much less intense and the second of "3 dead girls" is already dead from the start), this is still so much better than one would normally be exposed to. I loved it.
