Screen writer David Hayter is already thinking of casting options, one of the characters being hand selected from the public.

This is the first DreamWorks Animation's live-action film.

The film will be solely based off of the original Voltron 84 TV series (1984), rather than the rumor of it being a product of the new Netflix series (2016) "Voltron: Legendary Defender"'s success.
