Assuming I've got the right short, this one involves Andre Deed as Boireau getting into a fight over a cook in a diner. One of them pours plaster over the other, which hardens, and then another sutor appears and they roll around on the floor.

My doubts about whether this is the title is that I looked at a Pathe-Baby cutdown entitled BOIREAU MACON, It was just under seven minutes. Since the IMDb lists the full length as 7 minutes, either the IMDb has the wrong length, it wasn't cut down at all, or this was originally called something different. I can't tell, so if I've just reviewed a movie that has nothing to do with this title, my apologies.

It's a rather primitive movie for 1914, using backdrops suitable for two or three years earlier. Of course, Deed was sufficiently popular that they might have felt no need to change the formula; changing it might have been seen as a risk to the series; give them what they want! However, the net result isn't very good.

I have only seen this in the two-part Pathé-Baby version (Boireau maçon) which lacks the first four minutes but it is not Deed at his best. Boireau, apprentice mason, and a coalman fight it out for the affections of the cook.
