Filmed in 1979 but not broadcast until 1981.

Partially filmed on location in Arrow Rock, MO-the same town where "Tom and Huck" was filmed in 1972. The town has been used for a number of films due to the large number of mid 1800s buildings and boardwalks

A number of the extras for location filming were selected from nearby Stephens College in Columbia, MO

Some of the river and riverfront scenes were shot in Henry, Illinois on the Illinois river as the location offered a natural setting unspoiled by modern power lines,etc. Extras were recruited from the town and the Henry-Senachwine High school.
