» » Father Ted Are You Right There Father Ted? (1995–1998)

Short summary

When Mrs Doyle injures herself Ted and Dougal do the housework and a bored Ted puts a lampshade on his head - an act interpreted as racism by a passing Chinese family. Ted gets them on side by buying them alcohol but another mishap leads to the islanders believing him to be a Nazi and so, to dispel the notion, he holds a festival to celebrate all cultures. This is successful but unfortunately a friend of his has recently died and bequeathed all his Nazi memorabilia to Ted and Mrs Doyle proudly puts it on show.

When this episode originally aired, Channel 4 dedicated the episode in memory of Dermot Morgan.

This episode was originally to air 8 March 1998, however in respect of the death of Dermot Morgan it was held back a week.

At the beginning of this episode Ted is divying up the masses with the other priest at Castlelawn. This is a reference to Good Luck, Father Ted the very first episode when he was trying to divy up the masses with Father Jack. However Jack was less agreeable than the priests at Castlelawn.

In 1999 this episode "Are you alright there, Father Ted" won Bronze Rose at "Rose d'Or Light Entertainment Festival".

Graham Linehan and Arthur Matthews decided Series 3 was to be the final season of Father Ted. Because they felt there was nothing more they could with the sitcom and with the characters and Dermot Morgan announced he was leaving Father Ted and Series 3 was to be his last, because he wanted to move on and do other roles.

Reynaldo the Hamster, and his bicycle, became Dougal's pet after Ted left Craggy Island.
