The Killer Plants begins with peaceful footage from the native forests of Waikamoi Preserve, and then portrays how the balance of the forest was disrupted as invasive species arrive. Students then act out the ongoing battle between native and invasive plant species in Maui's forests. In a treacherous journey throughout Iao Valley, 'the last native species' is attacked by invasive guava, vines, and coffee until the volunteers come to his rescue.
