To help a committee raise money, Molly decides to bring a production of Die Fledermaus to town. They discover that a local butcher the women don't use named Oscar (played by George Irving), is a baritone (and also a bachelor), which they need for the show. Helping with the production is a woman named Myra Fuller, and Oscar the butcher expresses romantic interest in her. It turns out that Myra has had three broken engagements due to her mother's interference. The butcher Charlie, a married man, who the women do use, stops by very upset that they have all switched to Oscar. He says that he is now their former butcher. Oscar says he doesn't want or need the women as new clients; he only wants to sing. Molly promises that many purchases will still be made from Charlie. When Mrs. Fuller, Myra's mother, hears her daughter is involved with a mere "butcher," she becomes upset and comes to take her daughter away from him and away from the opera.
