Starrcade (1990) was the P.P.V. that featured the blow off match between Sting and the mysterious Black Scorpion. Sting for the past several months has been stalked by a enigmatic figure only know as the Black Scorpion. Everywhere he goes, the Black Scorpion follows. This time he meets His tormentor inside the ring!! Also taking place on the card is the Pat O'Conner Tag Team Invitational headlined by the Steiner Bros. But the best match on this P.P.V. card is the street fight between Doom and the Horsemen (Barry Windham and Arn Anderson).

The street fight was the best I have ever seen. The wrestlers hit each other with some stiff shots and busted each other open with their taped fists and weight lifting belts. Both teams brought with the their own cut men and medics. Ric Flair was supposed to participate but an "injury" kept him from competing. The legendary Skyscrapers (Dan Spivey and Sid Vicious) reunited for one match to squash Big Cat and the Motor City Madman. In another match Stan Hansen defend the N.W.A. United States heavyweight title against Lex Lugar.

Worth watching for the street fight alone.

    1. Beautiful Bobby Vs. The Z-Man - Nice match, slow beginning, but then some innovative elbow punches from Bobby Eaton :) At the end there were some nice moves from Turnbuckle and..... Bobby clearly wins! Thanks for that match. 7/10

We have a special Tag Team Tournament for Intercontinental Cup.

    2. (South Africa)Col. Deklerk/Sgt. Krueger Vs. (USA) The Steiner Brothers - Quick but good. Frankensteiner from Big Poppa *SIGH* 6/10

    3. (Great Britain) Norman Smiley/Chris Adams Vs. (Mexico) Rey Misteric/Konan - Some tremendous moves, I'm get excited or what, f*ck this is weird. 6/10

    4. (New Zealand) Rip Morgan/Jacko Victory Vs. (Japan) Great Muta/Mr. Saito 5/10

    5. (Canada) Bull Johnson/Troy Montour Vs. (U.S.S.R.) Victor Zangiev/Salmon Hasimikov - ???? 5/10

    6. Terry Taylor Vs. Michael Wallstreet 5.5/10

    7. Big Cat/Motor City Madman Vs. Skycsrapers - Same case like Match No.2 6/10

    8. Tommy Rich/Ricky Morton Vs. The Fabulous Freebirds 5.5/10

    9. Steiner Brothers Vs. Mexicans 5.5/10

    10. Japanese Vs. Sovietes - Of course, I thought that in final round will be Steiners and Muta's Team 5.5/10

    11. US Heavyweight Championship: Lex Luger Vs. Champ-Stan Hansen - Heh, Luger wants to pin in a tie up match. Hansen totally screwed back body drop or German suplex, who knows... 4/10

    12. World Heavyweight Tag Team Championship: Arn Anderson/Barry Windham Vs. Champs-Doom

    13. Final for the Intercontinental Tag team belts: Steiners Vs. Muta/Saito - USA WINS! Did anybody expect something else? :/ 5.5/10

    14. World Heavyweight Championship: Black Scorpion Vs. Champ-Sting - NO, that was Ric Flair?? What a bad feud. 5.5/10

Best match was the first one, with Bobby Eaton.. Admit to me now.

Many critics say that 1990 was a bad year for World Championship Wrestling. Watching some 1990 stuff back in 2002/2003 when Sky Sports was showing some old Worldwide shows from back then, I'd disagree. And watching WCW Starrcade, the last PPV of 1990, I'd also disagree.

The show was headlined by a steel cage match with then World Heavyweight Champion Sting defending the gold against The Black Scorpion, who had been annoying Sting for many months. The match itself was dire with the exception of the ending, which will have you marking out!

The show started off with Tom Zenk (BRING YOUR COLUMNS BACK YOU BITTER TWAT!) vs Bobby Eaton, who without a doubt is one of the greatest tag team wrestlers of all time. The match was brilliant, and I had a tear in my eye when I heard the Midnight Express rip off theme, just pure class. The Pat O Connor tournament had it's moments. Team Mexico (Rey Mysterio Snr and Konnan with a mask), Team UK (The future "Screaming" Norman Smiley and the late Chris Adams, Team Japan (The Great Muta and Mr Saito) and Team USA (The Steiners ~!) were the best teams in my opinion. The others (especially Team Canada, who sucked the proverbial you-know-what) didn't impress me that much.

Micheal Wallstreet vs Terry Taylor was an okay bout. Get a chance to see former WWE Diva Terri before the plastic surgery, before the marriage to Dustin Runnels and before the threesomes with Brian Pillman and Tom Zenk. The Freebirds vs Tommy Rich and Ricky Morton wasn't bad either, though you have to mark for Rocky King. Skyscrapers squash Big Cat (Mr Hughes) and The Motorcity Madman, even though it was sad to see Sid not doing any sick moves on them like many other jobbers in the past :(

I must be the only man who marks for Lex Luger these days. I thought his bullrope match with Stan Hanson was brilliant. Yes, Luger doesn't know how to work, but still, he's tildeworthy nonetheless, though I hated the finish. The NWA World Tag Team championship match between Barry Windham and Arn Anderson against Doom was a cracking streetfight. Both teams laid it into each other and I had a tear of joy in my eye when I saw Theodore Long, who is currently the General Manager of Smackdown.

If you haven't got this tape, go look for it! If you can't find it, bid for it on E-Bay!

    Thanks for reading.
