The name of the documentary was originally, "John Zaffis' Inner Sanctum" but was later changed due to prior negotiations with another production company. The third section of the film was titled, "The Inner Sanctum" as a reminder of this.

Impressed by how they handled his appearance in "SCARED! The Grand Midway Hotel", John Zaffis went to the producers of the paranormal documentary a few months later and asked if they were interested in doing a film about his life.
