Short summary

The police investigate the shooting of 54 year-old Rachel Callaghan, a well-known high court judge, during what seems to be a car-jacking. They retrieve the car fairly quickly from a dupe who bought the car on the cheap. When they arrest the middleman in the sale, he points to a man named Eddie as the thief. It quickly becomes obvious that this wasn't just a carjacking and that it's likely Eddie was hired to kill the woman. The evidence points to the victims husband Dan but the victim tells the Crown Prosecutors that she will testify on his behalf if they proceed with the case. When she orders her doctors to withdraw her medication, James Steele seeks the court's permission to question her before she dies but after she tries to commit suicide, he has to seek her to be declared mentally incompetent.

Based on "DNR", Number 3 of Season 10 of the US show, first aired on 6 October 1999. In the US version, the part of the judge was played by Lindsay Crouse (who would go on to play other judges in later episodes in the franchise), and her husband was played by John Heard.

After taking an old painting to his fancy apartment, an old man (John McArdle) heard some shootings coming from the garage. He went there as fast as he could and he saw his wife lying on the ground while the perp was spinning the wheels, in what seemed to be a carjacking. The luxury car was found right away, because the fence sold it to a banker just trapped in recession who needed a car after his own was traded down for paying debts. Obiouvsly, he had nothing to do with the attempted murder, as well as the fence. The real motive behind the shooting is related to the victim, an old woman known as a prominent court judge, whose husband has just lost his job. After some analysis made at the hospital, she has to spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair, because the injuries have compromised her spinal cord. Even if her life will be in despair, she wants to protect her family by any means.

The judge is the classic career woman, who doesn't care too much about her family when all things go right. Anyway, after an accident that turns you into an useless kind of person, you change your mind about the things that really matters in life: the love of your relatives. But sometimes it's too late.
