Short summary

Mary lives a wealthy lifestyle near Panaji, Goa, along with her brother, David and his wife, Eliza, and studies in a Bombay college. When she returns home for the holidays, she is teased and molested by a group led by Viju which she resents. She is then taught to sing by none other than Viju's mother, and shortly thereafter both she and Viju fall in love much to the chagrin of Eliza, who is a devout Christian while Viju is a Hindu Brahman. Eliza does not inform David, as he is known to be abusive, so she warns Mary to keep away from Viju. Eliza makes arrangements for Mary to return to Bombay so that she can forget Viju. On the day of her departure Murphy's law prevails and Eliza and David on one hand, and Mary and Viju on the other hand face challenges that may shatter and change their lives forever.

Eruption's hit song " One Way Ticket to The Moon" is featured in the movie. It plays when Kumar Gaurav and friends are dancing on the beach.

After the super success of Love Story, Rajendra Kumar followed it with Lovers, mostly with same starcast as Love Story.

Some films were made at that time witk Kumar Gaurav which had English titles like Love Story, Star, Lovers, Romance, All Rounder. Then Supar Star was announced but was shelved.

Kumar Gaurav was hesitant to work with the director due to his last film Red Rose being a flop. Rajendra Kumar convinced his son that the Tamil version of the film was a national award winning film and he should not worry.

During of the shooting of the movie, Padmini nearly lost her life. Kumar Gaurav and Padmini had to jump in a canal for a shot. Rather than see how deep it was, they both just jumped right in. Padmini was swept away by a powerful current and had to be rescued by the films crew.

There were stories of how Rajendra Kumar had taken Beena under his wing and was now helping her with her career. Pradeep Kumar denied being upset with Rajendra's assistance and stated he was glad a colleague was helping her.

When the film was declared a flop, Rajendra Kumar started to feed the theatre's ( buying tickets to make the film a hit). When that did not work, he added a song hoping the audience would come back.
