Vappu is a very absent minded little girl.Now her mother tells her to buy sirup for ten pennies.Vappu does anything not to forget.But there are too many temptations along the way, including other kids and one beautiful doll.All the time it's harder and harder to remember the purpose of her journey.Kymmenellä Pennillä Siirappia is a TV movie from 1967 and it's directed by Maija-Liisa Sutinen.It's based on the 1895 short story "Ihme ja Kumma" by Teuvo Pakkala, who was known from his fantastic child depictions.I'm just reading those stories, and read that particular short story this movie is based on before I saw the movie.The movie does a great job on capturing the spirit of the short story.Kirsi Järvinen is amazing as Vappu.Aila Arajuuri is terrific as her mother.I really enjoyed watching this.A movie like this makes you feel better.
