As people have stated, this wasn't the best episode, but why does it have to be? It was still very much the Brooklyn Nine-Nine we all know and love, but it did feel like it had an extra edge to it, almost like the writers felt the freedom to get away with just a bit more. Maybe that's what's rubbing some people the wrong way? Not sure, but I found this episode to be funnier than the average episode. I had to pause it a couple times to finish laughing.

As for the people saying that this is a filler episode, I don't think you know what "filler episode" means. You can find a more detailed definition elsewhere, but basically, a filler episode is one that doesn't have a very big impact on the season as a whole; you could take that episode out and you'd barely notice it. Spoilers ahead. This episode revealed that Holt didn't get the job as commisioner, and Holt had a significant character development arc; his approach to running the 99 is completely different now (at least this is what's set up, we'll see if they follow through). Boyle's subplot is less important, but still significant to those following the plot, and probably meaningful to future episodes if the writers decide to dive deeper into his dad's divorce. And of course, the end of the episode sets up what seems to be this season's big story arc; The Nine-Nine vs the NYPD. A "filler" episode this was not.

Sorry for the long post. I usually don't write reviews, but I came here to see if people loved this episode as much as I did, and was surprised with what I found.

I am so glad 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' was saved. It is this generation's standard for the great sitcom. Season 5's finale would have been an okay open ending for the show but I wanted more. Everyone has their favorite character in the lovable 99 ensemble and mine is Raymond Holt. I very much look forward into seeing this new storyline about fighting against stop and frisk policing play out over the season. I think it's a direction 99 should not be afraid to go in especially as it tries to be a progressive show.

'Honeymoon' isn't really meant to be consumed on it's own. It's a filler episode, a piece of the puzzle. I've read reviews of it that say it serves as a second pilot for new audience members tuning in on NBC and so we kind of get new introductions to their characters and their personalities. I disagree. I think what 'Honeymoon' tries to do is overcompensate a bit and deliver louder performances with less than subtle winks at the 99 tropes. Chelsea Perretti and Terry Crews are egregious with this. I don't expect it to be a recurring problem though. They are pros who get these characters.

So back to our regularly scheduled 'Nine-Nine'

For a season premier it could have been better and have a bit more work put in to it. The sound was not tuned properly. It could have also longer. Don't get me wrong i love the show just this episode wasnt up to the typical way the 99 normally is

One question: has this show always had shaky camera cinematography? it made me nauseous. anywho... it was a decent episode. I agree that it wasn't the best by any means, but I'm glad the quality is still standing after the network jump.

I was really scared that NBC would make too many changes and ruin the show but. This is not what happened. Classic. Basic. Amazing. Hilarious.

For a show that fans fought so hard to save, B99 did not exactly return the favor.

This was unfunny for the most part. Holt can have the worst storyline possible, like he did here, and still deliver, but the rest was nothing to write home about.

    Gina is too annoying.

Some of the jokes were really funny but what I took away from it all was that I wanted more
