The "Creatures" magazine that Raphael is reading when Donatello hits on April is most likely based off the pulp magazine "Famous Monsters of Filmland", Issue #254; its cover features the green slime monster from Ghost Busters and cites articles about IDW Publishing, the American publishing company that began printing TMNT comic books in 2011. "Monsters" magazine was the first science-fiction, fantasy, & horror pop culture fanzine, and was created in 1958 by publisher James Warren and editor Forrest J. Ackerman.

Jeffey Combs, who voices the mad scientist Dr. Victor Falco in this episode, is famous for voicing another mad scientist in the movie Re-Animator: Dr. Herbert West. Both scientists perform unethical experiments on unwilling subjects that ultimately bring their downfall.
