Henrique Linhares de Lima, lieutenant-colonel, had been director of the army department for food provisions, and was the Ministry of Agriculture during two short-lived governments of 1929 to 1932. However, Linhares de Lima started the Wheat Campaign in 1929 and, as part of that wheat production effort, he paid a visit (in civilian clothes) to the field being cleared, and was filmed in a group posing for a still photo, talking, and having a glass of fresh wine with the Portuguese owners of the Production company, and local field agriculture supervisors.

300 students (some teenagers, but mostly adults) of the Technical School of Paiã tried to pull back the CLETRAC 30 tractor via three strong rope cables, and they were defeated twice; at their third attempt they kept on for a little longer, only to loose again. The lesson: the machine does not exhaust itself.
