Meta is a gritty science fiction short from first time director Matt Cameron. Written by Tom K McCarthy (Outcast 2010/11) and made for a budget of just one thousand UK pounds, this dark tale treads through fractured realities to explore the nature of addiction and questions of the self. Mark is an addict. His body wastes away while his brain is jacked into dangerous underground gaming networks. When he discovers Grace, his last link to the real world, comatose and hooked up to a new machine, he must search the dream worlds of the Metaverse to rescue her. The deeper Mark pushes himself into these virtual worlds, the more he runs the risk of losing himself completely.
