Well then let's get right into... so it feels like that ever anime that I have watch that has got like 6-7/10 on IMDB. I feel like I am the only one out of 7.442 billion people on the earth that actually enjoys them. Look I don't think this is the best anime I have ever watched nor it's my favourite but honestly, it deserve better then what people treat it to be.

I am going to give you summary of the anime, afterwards I will give you the opportunity to leave my review to watch it yourself otherwise I might spoil too much that you might be put off.

As brief summary this anime is about a young man by the name of Ayato Amagiri (Eirk Scott Kimerer) who comes to the city of Asterisk to join Seidoukan Acadamy to find his true purpose in life and find his missing sister, but that latter change after he meets a beautiful Julis Riessfeld (Kira Buckland) even though they ended up having a bad start. But little that he knows Julis is more than just an average everyday student.

Okay now that the summary is out of the way I will give you this opportunity to stop reading my review and go watch it yourself for the next part because I will give heavy spoilers on the way for those who haven't watched it or are going to watch it. Otherwise I might ruin it for you and I might be at fault for putting you off.

So then as the show progress he meets many likeable characters with many different personalities Claudia Enfield (Erika Harlacher) the student body president, Saya Sasamiya (Sarah Williams) Ayato's childhood friend, Kirin Toudou (Brianna Knickerbocker) a rank number 1 student who has been fight to free her father from prison while being abused by her uncle and I must say she is so adorable and final Eishiro Yabuki (Max Mittelman) who is the schools journalist. Ayato gets a blade called the servrasta but his true powers were sealed up by his sister as a child and he needed to use these even if it hurt him to participate in the tournament. During the tournament Juils maid was kidnapped and they had to focus on two things which was a downer to the story.

However, later on we are introduced to Juils's family and her child hood friend who turned evil. We even got to learn a bit about Ayato's sister's condition and if there was any way to save her who was kept by Dirk Eberwin (Kaiji Tang) the main somewhat villain of the series. Unfortunately it got cancelled after season 2 by A1 because they dropped the license for it but I for one want to have a season 3 for this anime because it is left unresolved and all we got was a new with an untrusty worthy grin who claimed she can help Ayato's sister but would she???

I honestly, liked both seasons of the anime and I was never disappoint all I hope for is now a season 3 or so to finish off the remaining story. I am aware of the fact that there is a series out there by some YouTuber called "The Asterisk Wars Sucks" but let me tell you this, it does not suck it just deserve another chance and more viewership/popularity. If you come across this chancel just pay no attention to him/her they are possibly doing it for attention and money.

It has good dubbing cast and most possibly a good Japanese cast, the animation, the art style, backgrounds and character designs are all pretty. It has some good music my personal favourite is the second intro,"Waiting for the rain" the first end credits music although I never understood why was Julis naked in it and finally the ending music in the second. The first intro was good as well.

My final word is it is a good anime which has a lot of controversy towards it. It's either you love it or you hate nothing more or nothing less. If you like it do support it and if you don't then just don't support it and for people who haven't watched it but actually continued to read my review despite the warning I gave try it and give it a chance. This anime isn't everyone's slice of cake at the end of the day it's either like it or dislike it.

I don't watch tons of anime but this one I loved it , I think it is a nice story quite original I would and the fact that there is only 2 seasons and the story ends abruptly left wanting more, I have read 9 volumes out of 14 wainting for the english translation for the others the series in my opinion summons the right amount of everything if you are a balanced human being if you are into more violent stuff you might not like it .

Let's be honest, Japan cranks out way too many anime every year. in 2016 alone, there were 204 new anime series or seasons released, averaging 4 a week - not to mention OVAs and theatrical films. There is almost as many hours of anime as there are waking hours in a year.

Add on to all that a history of anime going back to the 1970s. You have a huge collection to pull from. Why, oh why, then, would you watch the Asterisk War? This series is not inherently terrible or offensive, but it's just the blandest, generic-est crud you could watch. The characters are all clichés, the setting is boring, there's a lot of logical inconsistencies. Literally go watch anything else. If you want a more in-depth spoiler review, you can watch a wonderful series for free on Youtube by a guy by the name of Digibro. The series of videos is called "The Asterisk War Sucks."

You know, it's just a shame to me. I love animation, be it American, Japanese, or other. To see how much money is poured into animation in Japan, you'd think they could consolidate some of these bland and generic products and pump out instead really excellent anime that will stand the test of time.
