Short summary
All moments taking place at the start of the story in the present are presented in full screen 16:9 aspect ratio, while all scenes set in the past or Satoru's childhood are presented in cinematic widescreen 2.39:1.
Series composer, Yuki Kajiura had read the manga prior to being hired to write the music.
The opening theme song "Re:Re" by Asian Kung-Fu Generation wasn't written for the show specifically but licensed for the show instead, while not unheard of it is rather unusual.
To prepare for the English dubbing several of the actors watched the show beforehand. Erica Mendez admitted to having nightmares afterword.
Whenever Satoru is in the past, the show is in widescreen format. On the other hand, when he's in the present, it's in a typical aspect ratio.
In the first few Volumes of the Manga, Satoru teams up with Airi to use his Ability to save people from trouble, setting up a clear Formula that is quickly broken when Satoru is Sent back in Time to the 1980s, playing it up more as a Twist. The Anime cut this to save time.
The writer has maintained consistency from the start till the end. When Satoru tries to change the past and prevent something bad from happening he gambles with his life. In the pilot you could see how he manages to stop the accident but hits unconscious, although he fully recovers without a scratch. In the end he manages to save everyone by changing the fate but gets hurt in the process. However he recovers but the amount of damage that he received is far too much because he changed the past and so much time was disrupted.
In episode 11, Satoru doesn't appear in the opening at all, even though everyone else is. This is to show how the events in episode 10 affected the plot
The Ending to the Anime plays out differently than the Manga. In both versions, Satoru confronts Yashiro about the Murders, But in the Manga, It's Set at a Rehibilitation Retreat at Mt. Fugi on a Bridge. Yashiro attempts to kill both of them by lightning the Bridge on Fire, But Satoru is able tackle him & throw both of them into the River. In the Anime, Satoru is able to trick Yashiro into letting him fall of the building, where his Friends have set up a Crashmat down below. The Changes drew some criticisms from Fans of the Manga, stating the Anime's ending was too campy.
