Short summary

Two cousins, two kind of thinking, and a bakery for saving.
Vivien and Chloe are two very different cousins living in Brooklyn who have been inseparable ever since they were children. At least, they were until recently. The sudden passing of their Aunt Isabelle has left them with a challenging inheritance: their aunt's quaint Boulangerie, named Isabelle's. Vivien, who has postponed her dream trip to Europe to help run the shop, wants to keep things traditional, but Chloe, who works as Fernando's assistant, a chef for a popular daytime cooking TV show, feels they should put a modern spin on things. But when the bank reveals that the Boulangerie is in danger of being foreclosed, Vivien and Chloe must put the baking mitts down to preserve their family's legacy. Vivien tries to deceive the bank pretending that Dave, her now widower uncle, lives on the boulangerie after the loss of his home by the debts, being helped by Paul, the agent sent by the bank. The trouble increases when Paul shows a love interest by Vivien, meanwhile Fernando and Chloe ...

Trailers "My Bakery in Brooklyn (2016)"

According with the own movie, Isabelle's Boulangerie is Est. since 1913 and it's located in a corner between Myrtle Ave. and Adelphi St. (Brooklyn, New York City).

The place where Isabelle's Boulangerie is located was the place where existed during several years Little Louie's Pizza, that closed permanently in 2012.

First American movie for Blanca Suárez.

Daniella mentions that she had lived in Torres del Paine in Chile. In a conversation with Ian she uses the Chilean slang "cachai?" (get it?). Ian recites poems by Neruda to Daniella, Pablo Neruda is one of the best and most known poets of the twentieth century, awarded the Nobel Prize, Neruda is chilean. The labels on the wine bottles shown in the film are "Casillero del Diablo", which is also a very famous Chilean wine brand.

The street where Daniella takes a taxi is the same where the blind Colonel Frank Slade (Al Pacino) took a curve driving a Ferrari in Naise lõhn (1992).

Although in the movie Daniella claims to be an Italian girl, Blanca Suárez is a Spanish girl.

Vivien is revealed to be left-handed, meanwhile Chloe is revealed to be right-handed.

Although the movie is said to be filmed solely in Brooklyn, the final ballpark scene appears to be in the Richmond County Bank Ballpark. The home of the Staten Island Yankees.

This romantic comedy is probably more of a fantasy tale than anything else. There were a few chuckles and some sweet moments along the way, but, unfortunately, I found most of the film to be quite unfunny even annoying at times.

Two cousins Vivien and Chloe, Aimee Teegarden and Krysta Rodriguez respectively, lost their parents on the same day in an accident, and were taken in by their Aunt Isabelle, who owns a long established bakery in Brooklyn. However, when Isabelle suddenly passes and leaves the shop to her two nieces, she also leaves a huge debt load to the bank, who is looking to foreclose on the property asap. Thus, Vivien and Chloe will race against time to find a way of keeping the bakery afloat.

There's actually a large ensemble cast here, whose characters all intersect with each other throughout the movie. The film was directed by Gustavo Ron, who also co-wrote the script with Paco Zegers.

Overall, as mentioned, there are some moments to like here but the movie just came across to me, for the most part, as too awkward and staged, so that I couldn't connect with its characters.

I really enjoyed this sweet movie of a sweet shop and two cousins who inherit it. Great themes of love and family. The only thing that keeps me from giving it a ten out of ten is the odd subplot with the decorator and the couple with something under their carpet. I think the somewhat clumsy assistant could have been given another way to win the decorator's heart over that would have made more sense.

Still it was light, enjoyable and with a nice ending. (I swear Krista Rodriguez could be Aubrey Plaza's twin - and born only a month and 3,000 miles apart).

It's a sort of feel-good rom com with a dash of fantasy -they missed that bit out of the blurb! - but it's short on the feel-good, the rom is set out and obvious and although it's light, there there's really no com.

It's a TV movie if anything, something to waste - sorry, while away - an afternoon when there's absolutely nothing else on the telly. I kinda like the conceit although I suspect I'm in the minority, but it could have been much better.

The fantasy addition is sorta weird and some of the set pieces jar - such as cooking without aprons (as if you would) but having no flour or marks on your clothing.

It's light, not as fluffy as a souffle should be and, unfortunately, nowhere near as tasty.

I see from other comments, this did not get the best reviews. It's not a bad movie, the storyline was there, I'm goin to place blame on the director for this movie not doing as well as it could have. It just didn't have that big ah-ha moment. Great movie for a rainy day or if you are bored or under the weather yourself. Definitely worth a look. I thought it was okay, I also rarely agree with critics either.

Cute Rom/Com that is decent for the whole family until the head banker is introduced. Suddenly F-bombs are flying. Scene over, back to a family movie.

Vivien (Aimee Teegarden) and Chloe (Krysta Rodriguez) are orphaned cousins who are more like bickering sisters. Their aunt Isabelle (Linda Lavin) raised them together and runs a Brooklyn corner bakery. The cousins are forced to take over after Isabelle's death which leaves them heavily in debt and the bakery threatened with foreclosure by the bank. Chloe quits her job as an assistant to bad TV chef Fernando. Vivien abandons her European trip. The banker on the case, Paul, is in love with Vivien. Following his unknowing advice, Vivien claims a three month extension with uncle Dave as a resident of the property. Ian is the bumbling worker and Chloe recruits Daniella to modernize the shop.

This starts somewhat seriously but it turns into a bad wacky romance. There are a lot of slapstick and broad comedy going on here but it has the tone of a sweet bland rom-com with a drug dealer, a mysterious house renovation, and a fantastical shoe reader. Like the food fight, this is a mess. None of the actors are comedic actors who could pull off the wackiness it is attempting in this movie. At best, they are comedy adjacent. It is good natured and sweet like the cupcakes. Like them, it is also empty calories. Then it turns really dark, really really dark for no apparent reason. It's a bunch of weird stuff mounted on a bland rom-com. At least, it's filmed in New York.
