Short summary
This is a pantomime, but there is one line in the film. It is uttered by Kate O'Mara who, when discovering that the red spot on Eric Sykes' cheek is not blood, but paint, says, "It's paint."
Basically this 1979 TV version was a re-make of the original 1967 Cinema film of the same title. Eric Sykes re-used many of the original locations including many parts of Barnes in South West London. Barnes pond is a good example where scenes were re-shot, recreating as close to the original 1967 film as possible.
This film, like Eric Sykes's other film Rhubarb (1969), includes practically no dialogue because of his worsening deafness.
Frank Windsor's character is the driver who leans out of his car window tapping his watch, as he does so a short burst of the Music Hall tune "If you want to know the time, Ask a Policeman". Windsor was well known in the UK for playing a detective in Task Force Police (1962) and later Softly Softly (1966)
Last Film of Reg Varney.
A remake of the 1967 film of the same name by London Weekend Television (LWT). Only three of the cast of the original film starred in this version - Eric Sykes, Kenny Lynch, and Jimmy Edwards.
