Short summary

Chicago filmmaker Jeffrey Maccubbin's newest work looks deeply into how two men strive to find peace with their innermost demons. Simon is a hustler caught in the underbelly of queer culture. Late one night Simon slips on the ice that throws him into the arms of Evan, the host of a cable show who suffers from Tourette's Syndrome. After a night of unbridled sex, Simon realizes that Evan's ticks have subsided. He believes that he is meant to save Evan from his afflictions, leading them to unabashedly dive into a sado-masochistic relationship. Simon basks in a world where sadness and depression have become his new turn on and where his emotional destruction is the only true way to give Evan his soul.

The digital age has come with some VERY severe down-sides; once upon a time anyone with a vision for a film actually had to work hard to get it made, requiring at the very least funds...which were a slight gauge on the viability of said vision. Now, anyone with a digital camera can "create" a feature-length film with an emphasis on minimal. That is all I can really say about this film; it has a minimal plot, minimal acting, minimal background music (sounds like it was some free sample downloaded and used ad nauseam), minimal editing, and most/least of all, minimal value. I can't describe the plot any better than the synopsis on this site, but the bottom-line is it really doesn't even matter, since it's just not worth viewing.

Zach Welsheimer is "Simon", who seems to be the star of the film. He is apparently a hustler, who has trouble coming up with the rent. The landlord Rem (Richard Jones) finds ways to let him knock off part of the rent, but his solutions cause Simon more addiction issues. Everyone here seems to be addicted to meth, uppers, downers, or cocaine. Simon meets up with "Evan" played by John Zinn; Evan sells products on a home shopper network, and has an obvious twitch that comes and goes. A violent sex life seems to be what they are in to, this the title "Into it". Not completely sure what the theme of the film is, but its an entertaining 90 minutes. Written and directed by Jeffrey MacCubbin, who has directed eight films over the last ten years. There are some funny moments, but then ending was pretty weird... the title cards say "next winter"... "then that summer"... we rotate through them a couple of times, but it seemed that the writer wasn't quite sure how to end the film. not sure what our take-away was supposed to be. Evan and Simon live together now, but the film just ends after quickly rotating through "that summer" and "that winter". not real creative. what's the point? needed a stronger ending. only a 3.7 rating as of today. filmed around chicago.
