Short summary
Major share holder Sir Richard Lazenby wants James to deliver a secret letter to Versailles so he sets sail for France with Anne and the Frazers. Having accomplished his mission, he goes to Paris to collect an old debt but, following France's defeat in the Franco-Prussian war, the city is in a state of revolt and in the hands of the Communards. James' association with his Paris contact lands him in prison but fortunately Anne comes to his rescue by buying his freedom with their cargo of potatoes.
