Short summary

A single mom works as a human drone operator, kills people on a daily basis in order to make a living. How much of all that goes into her home?

The Idea of "The Operator" was actually born inside a coffee shop, where Ben sat down with Lior Zalmanson, the screenwriter. He told Ben the Idea he had - what if in a very near future, killer drones will be a weapon for hire, not necessarily by governments but by anyone with the right sum of money - and it will be a regular job for ordinary people, and Ben fell in love with the Idea and went for it.

The main character for the "Operator" was actually written for a male leading role, and the production started seeing actors for the part. At the last minute, the production felt that the script would benefit and will be much more powerful if the male will be replaced to female leading role. The production changed it at the last minute, and it was one of the best decisions it has done for the film.

The whole Operator room was shot in an empty studio at Tel-Aviv University, where the production were able to control, build and design an isolated office room. The location was perfect and naturally isolated, and the shooting took many hours, so sometimes it felt as if the production is experiencing an actual drone shift and it benefits to the actress and the film.
