While on a class trip to the woods, Becca becomes convinced that something sinister is going on, and soon she and her friend, Benjy, find themselves beset by horrifying creatures determined to devour them.

This was Michelle Risi's final acting role before her death on December 4, 1997 at the age of 16. Whenever "Teacher's Pet" aired afterwards, it was dedicated to her memory.

The plot to this episode is very different from the book. In the book, the students are in a classroom and they get a new teacher, Mr Blankenship, a man who is obsessed with snakes and keeps glass tanks of different snakes in the class. He teaches the students everything about snakes. The book ends with Becca and Benjy sneaking into the class at night to release the mice that are used to feed the snakes. Mr Blakenship catches them and reveals to them that he is actually a snake. Becca and Benjy agree to keep his identity a secret on condition that he doesn't harm them.

This episode is based on on the second story in the Goosebumps book 'Tales to Give You Goosebumps #1'.
