Nicholas Boyd (Barry Watson) had a successful book but has struggled to write since then. He returns to his childhood home on San Juan Islands, Washington State after his uncle Charlie's death. He had a complicated relationship with his uncle blaming him for a tragedy. Nick is left with the local paper but the property is in debt. Banker Rebecca Fink and developer Graham Westlake offer to take it off his hands for $10k. Nick loses his teaching job. Uncle Charlie's lawyer Libby (Stefanie von Pfetten) tells him that Charlie had fought against the development. Roger Calhoun (Lorne Cardinal) keeps stealing a horse after losing his ranch to Westlake.

Barry Watson is a nice B-level lead. That's kind of this movie. There isn't much drama but it is nice. There is a little bit of quirky and a personal struggle that Watson is able to milk. The villains are not well drawn and played by lesser actors. Both Watson and Stefanie von Pfetten have a nice easy photogenic charm which keeps this from grinding to a halt.

I enjoyed this movie. A nice change from the boy-meets-girl-misunderstanding-final kiss type of film that Hallmark are known for.

The mature acting from all concerned made it even more watchable, and why haven't we seen more of the two leads ? in particular Barry Watson - he's very easy on the eye, and cant understand why he hasn't made the 'big time'. Its a shame that the big movie studios don't promote these talented younger actors - Andrew J Walker/Wes Brown etc , as the likes of Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, George Clooney et al are all moving into late middle age, and we need some younger blood who can do more than fly around in comic movies.

I see 'the house' made another appearance (the Bed and Breakfast). Its fast becoming a star in its own right ! A French villa (Summer Villa) and a time travelling home (Edge of the Garden). I wait in anticipation for its next starring role !!!! :)

Nice little story with sound acting - nothing spectacular but also nothing to criticise - I enjoyed the story and journey toward forgiveness in a family

For those that do not want or need an adrenaline rush. Contains no pyrotechnics, shooting, (with sparks), or explosions. There are a couple of sub-plots involved, which come to light slowly. Und Stefanie von Pfetten is lovely to look at. Stunning, even. The acting is decent, the story plausible. I enjoyed the movie.
