Julios, a Greek-Englishman, is taken in by an old friend, David, and his girlfriend, Rachel, after escaping the struggles of family-life. His strict religious beliefs and aspirations to become a professional dancer are threatened when Rachel begins an unnatural infatuation with him.

The wilderness sequences weren't originally scripted, and the idea came to James Slater during principal photography.

The film's sex scene and the use of the C word contributed heavily to the film's 15 rating.

Actor Julios Catachanas is in reality a keen dancer and Greek Orthodox Christian.

Originally planned as a short film, the film became feature length due to the high amount of improvisation, extra scenes and the Director's signature 'Silences'.

The lead actor who plays 'Ju' - Julios Catachanas - is a non-actor. The film is loosely based upon his real life. He considers Zeibekiko to be his "first and last acting performance".

The film was intended as a short of around 20-30 mins, but due to the heavily encouraged improvisation and lingering takes, it became feature length at around 80 mins.

Director James Slater won the Best Picture award for his short film Monozygotic (2013), a film he made completely on his own, albeit the editing, which was Zeibekiko Co-Producer Duncan Coates' job.

Exactly one month after shooting was complete, actor Julios Catachanas tragically lost his life in a car crash. The film is now labelled by many as his Legacy.

During the 'Seduction Scene' involving Ju and Rachel, which was shot throughout the night, the cast and crew drank a heavy amount of energy drinks. This made them very ill sometime afterwards.

The scene where Ju teaches Rachel the basic dance steps of Zeibekiko was completely improvised.
