PBS made four shows about the various beautiful old lodges that can be found in some of the more famous national parks. All feature lots of very beautiful camera-work, various interviews and narration.

This first episode is only about two parks--two I often mix up because they kind of sound the same, though they are not particularly close to each other. Both are among the very best of our national parks. Yellowstone (Wyoming) and their Old Faithful Lodge is the first featured in the show and the second is Ahwahnee at Yosimite (California). You'll see rooms, LOTS of views of the parks and a discussion of how these inns were originally built.

This is a very nice episode for anyone going to these areas. However, they are NOT travelogues which are intended to discuss the various local inns outside and inside the parks or what you should or shouldn't do during your trips. So, you may or may not want to stay at these places--there are other options that may be better for you. Plus, I checked at the Old Faithful Lodge--it's booked up forever practically! But you should at least consider stopping by for a meal and these places are magnificent. And, the show is a wonderful introduction to them. Well made and worth seeing--even if you don't think you'll make these trips (but you should!).
