Death, the inevitable of life, is always closely knitted with many of the things we do in the living. La Peinture follows the path of an individual, in his afterlife, as he explores a blighted, run-down town, experiencing brief moments of his past life memories. The short film sought to unroll this by the use of audio without showing visuals in the first 29 seconds of the film telling the beginning of the story building the atmosphere before being followed by freeze-frame camera actions, unveiling the characters progressively with the use of camera animation. Visuals are made in 3D but layered with custom filters to resemble a painterly-look, creating an otherworldly dimension representing this afterlife.
