The unit of Dharmendra's Barsaat was staying at hotel Monarch. The hotel is owned by Mithun who was also at the same as his film Ahankaar was being shot in Ooty. Later on in the evening Mithun told Mamta he wanted to introduce her to someone special. Upon going to the hotels discotheque, Mithun introduced her to Bobby who was sitting quietly in a corner. Bobby immediately started talking to Mamta and in no time started dancing with her on the dance floor. Within 30 minutes Bobby Deol told Mamta he loved her and wanted to spend the night with her . Mamta rejected his offer saying he just broke up with Pooja Bhatt and was on a rebound. Plus she did not believe in one night stands. She went on to add that she told Bobby to concentrate on his career. Mamta then went on telling Bobby that her image in magazines and movies was not what she was in her personal life. Bobby Deol on his part never denied the story.

Ashim Samanta's 1995 hit 'Ahankaar' is a typical Bollywood family drama. The twist in the tale is that its protagonist is dumb... but has a bunch of conning people in his family, minus his mother, and a lot of baddies also. The film script is mediocre, but the filmmaker handles the script with ease. 'Ahankaar' works because not for once your disconnected from the film, your entertained completely. A winner all the way. Two Thumbs Up!

Pluses of the film: The filmmaker has handled the script with ease, as said before. The film is a complete family entertainer. The film has lovely songs, music by Anu Malik. Tere Andar Meri Jaan and Oh Bamba Oh are chart-busters. Performances are perfect: Mithun can never be doubted, he's excellent as always. Mamta is decent. Aroona Irani is superb, Monish Bahl is good. Prem Chopra and others are perfect.

    Minuses: Not many.

on the whole 'Ahankaar' is a time-pass flick.

Ahankaar is a good movie that has a typical 80s family storyline. The best thing about this movie is the most underrated song in Bollywood of all time. If you have not heard this song yet then please look for it and hear it for yourself. Tere Andar meri Jaan is a fabulous lovely song sang by Udit Nayaran and Alka Yagnik. Anyway the movie is a pretty decent fare and worth the watch. Mithun delivers a good performance and suits his role. Mamta was a unusual choice for this movie, but she did a pretty good job. Aroona Irani is one of Bollywoods vamps but in the 90s she did mother roles and this is a good example of her good work. The supporting cast were average to good. This movie is recommended by me the film genius so go and watch it.
