Short summary
Working name for the system was the Nintendo Ultra 64.
The three main games previewed on this tape are Super Mario 64, Pilotwings 64, and Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire.
The video was sent to Nintendo Power magazine subscribers in the summer of 1996.
The game featured in the split-second previews at the end of the tape called Kirby's Air Ride was never released for the Nintendo 64. A revised version, however, did appear on the Gamecube.
The split-second previews at the end of the video feature clips from an early version of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, back when the game was still called Zelda 64. You can see many locales in this preview that didn't make it into the final game.
A similar promo video, titled "Nintendo 64: The New Dimension of Fun", was released in Germany in 1996. It also features Super Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64, but instead of Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, the video features Wave Race 64. It lacks any on-screen talent, is all narration, and features different video clips. It is also ten minutes longer.
One of Nintendo's strongest selling points for the system was that it was the world's first 64-bit gaming system. This was NOT true. Atari's Jaguar, released several years before, was also 64 bit. The N64, however, did feature better usage of the 64 bits available.
