This was the first television series based on the legend of Robin Hood, making Patrick Troughton the first actor to play the role on television.
Patrick Troughton's grandson Sam Troughton would later play Much, Robin's trusted friend and ally, in Робин Гуд (2006).
A publicity still of Patrick Troughton as Robin Hood was shown on a computer screen in Доктор Кто: Robot of Sherwood (2014) starring Peter Capaldi, when the Doctor was showing the real Robin Hood how in the future he would become a legendary and oft-portrayed fictional character. Troughton played the Second Doctor in Доктор Кто (1963).
