"Beyond the Shadow of a Dream" is a very frustrating episode of "Mannix". That's because it's a pretty good episode and I enjoyed it--but then the ending was SO DUMB that it made me want to toss the DVD into the wall! Yes, it's that stupid.

"Mannix" meets a woman who is having some very vivid and weird dreams. However, those around her seem amazingly blasé about them. Even when Mannix hears a gun go off, they again seem to thing the dreams are nothing. Only later, when he is told that the woman has only been recently released from a mental hospital does it all begin to make sense...or does it?! Not a bad idea for a show. You really aren't sure if the woman is bonkers or not. BUT, at the very end, she and the psychiatrist on the case end up in a long and passionate kiss--what the $%*# was that?! Unprofessional, stupid and...well, stupid! A clearly sub-par episode, that's for sure.
