This episode is very underrated, and I will soon get to why.

In this episode, the stakes are at an all-time high. Tom Lennox is being pressured by Noah Daniels, who thinks spreading his islamophobic propaganda is more important than letting the TRUTH behind the assassination attempt out. Will Lennox make the right choice? Charles Logan also insist to talk with Martha who then can talk to Arya who then can talk to Yuri... in order to stop the launch of the 3 nuclear bombs.

Compared to most other 24 episodes, there actually isn't much happening. But that the writers highly compensate with exceptionally well-written dialogue and poignant character development. The conversation between Lennox and Daniels is brilliant. Two different minds who find difficulty in working together. Peter MacNicol is perfect in this scene, as you can pretty much feel his character sweating of pressure and MacNicol delivers his lines in the unique way I love the actor for. Powers Boothe is fantastic too. He has an almost ghastly unlikable character and he speaks every line like the most deranged lunatic you've seen. It's a battle of morals and it's interesting how Lennox is not really sure of which side he stands on.

Of course though, the best part is the return of Martha Logan. One of the best female characters on the show, who is now stronger than ever. Jean Smart wonderfully portrays a woman who's both scared and badass at the same time. I mean, hell, who wouldn't be scared of Charles Logan? He's a psychopath! The scene where she and him has an utmost uncomfortable conversation is not only the highlight of the episode, it's one of my favorite scenes from the show. We see Martha constantly verging on the edge of a breakdown, till she finally can't stand it and stabs Charles with a knife. It's her sweet, sweet revenge which she got at all. She got hit by him and now she's hitting back. I couldn't have asked for anything better. It's a terrible shame this is the last appearance of Martha.

Aaron Pierce also returned in this episode, standing aside as Martha's "bungalow" (as he himself expresses it). Considering how much he has supported her in tough times, I'm not surprised. It's pretty satisfying I've got to say, that he gets to continue liven up her life.

Thankfully, this episode has a minimal use of Gredenko (who by FAR is the WORST villain ever), which only makes this episode even better.

Even if you hate season 6, this one is a MUST-WATCH.

Jack escapes the Russian consulate with the help of CTU led by the new head of field ops: Mike Doyle. Logan and Martha Logan are reunited, which ends in tragedy. Daniels puts pressure on Lennox to frame Al-Assad for the attempt on Wayne's life.

In summary, here the events that happened during that hour:

1.Vice President Noah Daniels tells the Ambassador to help them find the suitcase nukes or he will launch a military attack on his country.

2.Consul Anatoly Markov shuts down the phone lines at the Russian consulate. Jack calls CTU and tells them he knows where Gredenko's location is, but gets cut off.

3.Mike Doyle and a tactical team raid the Russian consulate and end up killing Markov.

4.Dmitri Gredenko prepares to launch the drone.

The development of events is somewhat slow in this episode with respect to the fast-paced TV show like 24 is known for.We see the Vice President acting as the head of the country and trying to do things to prevent another nuclear explosion that just happened a few hours ago. While the villains like Dmitri Gredenko are continues his plan to inflict another disaster after having a nuclear bomb explode a few hours back. But still, the interest level, fun and entertainment raises up to higher levels as compared to the previous episodes.Day 6 has heated up.

The Vice President uses his momentary power to start dismantling the Constitution. He talks Lennox into lying about who set the device that killed Assad and hurt the President. Lennox, fearing for his own butt, shows what a wimp he is and goes along with it. At the same time, Jack invades the Russian Consulate. Logan goes to Martha, wanting to talk to the Russian president whom she defended. He enters the house and tries to get her to go along with his wishes. Her response comes as quite a surprise. Things really are ramping up as this one ends.

I'm not gonna lie, this is not the most engrossing hour of 24. This episode has an action scene at the end where it doesn't feel like the plot isn't moving toward. Grendenko has nukes being fitted into three mission drones to deliver toward different targets.

With the plot being shifted from Fayed to Grendenko, it's writers admitting that the former's villainy isn't working as well they hoped. Yet, in doing so, it basically jettisons about 12 episodes of plot and background.

For all its faults (and there were many), the terrorism siege plot and the resulting racism against the Muslim community was easily the most well thought out and executed plot-line featured on the show in some time. It had purpose and cause. Fayed and his terrorist cell successfully detonated a nuclear bomb on U.S. soil, as well as mini strikes against population centers around the country in the months before Day 6.

Grendenko wants revenge because the Cold War didn't result in nuclear war between the United States and Russia. Isn't that just dull as dish soap?

Elsewhere in the episode, Markov (John Noble) successfully traps Jack in the Russian Embassy, cutting communications to the outside, after he successfully extracted Gredenko's location from him during interrogation. Throughout the episode, Jack repeatedly attempts to relay Gredenko's location to CTU before he launch the drone. Buchanan preps for an assault on the consulate, knowing it can spark an international incident. Logan volunteers to see Former First Lady Martha Logan (Jean Smart) because she can quell the consequences with Russian President Yuri Suvarov (Nick Jameson).

This is the show at its worst: only concerned about what's on front of the writers during any current week. Remember early in season two when then-President David Palmer warmed a middle eastern prime minister that if a nuclear bomb detonated in Los Angeles, it would result in a counter military strike and war against them? And then they followed up on it? That was the writers planning for an endgame early and then executing it.

The show is an utter mess because it hasn't followed up successful terrorist attacks with virulent mixtures of racism and chaos in any satisfying fashion. The nuclear strike in episode four might as well be as far away as the Arctic Circle in importance because that's how important it feels to the writers. Disappointing.
