FLIGHT 462 bears the somewhat ignoble fate of being a spin-off show (of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD) of a spin-off show (THE WALKING DEAD). It's one of those web series that lasts only fifteen minutes in total and was originally shown in minute-long segments online.

Inevitably it's basic stuff indeed, about a zombie outbreak on a plane. This is rather old ground that I've previously seen covered in the B-movie likes of QUARANTINE 2 and FLIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, but the short running time means that the pacing is fast and there's plentiful action here.

I did have some budgetary concerns but overall this series doesn't disappoint, and in the space of just fifteen minutes Michelle Ang gets a more likable character than anyone in the whole of season one of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD.

This follows in line with the two previous web episodes linked to the universe of the Walking Dead, which are The Bicycle girl (quite moving) and Self Storage (which is also excellent). This takes place on a plane as it approaches LAX and one patient is infected. Really well done, with a tension that the parent show (Fear) so far has been able to produce, and a quickly evolving story. This is well worth watching. One character is supposed to survive and join the cast of Fear. Maybe that will bring some spark to the parent show which so far, has been glacially slow with an unlikable cast. I'm hoping that AMC will continue with the creation of these mini shows, and do what they did here - show it on TV as well as making it available on TV.

"Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462 " is as the title already says a little add-on to the successful television series "Fear the Walking Dead" used as promo for an upcoming season back in 2015, so this one is almost five years ago. It consists of no less than 16 episodes with the longers being 1.5 minutes (the first actually) and all the others running for one minute with the exception of one shorter episode that is just 45 seconds long. So you can easily watch this one one sitting in a bit over 15 minutes if you want to. Let me say something about my background too. I have seen a lot from The Walking Dead, but never watched "Fear the Walking Dead". This is not an issue though as none of the characters in here are part of "Fear the Walking Dead" with one exception, namely the young man you see in the final episode. I actually wonder if this shot of him seeing the struggling plane also existed in the series like that. That's the only question I asked myself here. I liked episodes 4, 8, 9 and 12 without loving them. The other spidoes did not do too much for me. I am actually a bit surprised how well-received this turned out to be, not just the rating here on imdb, but that it actually managed to score 2 Emmy nominations. The one for Michelle Ang is not undeserving I would say, she is the best thing about the series, also looks-wise. But there is also a lot that is not working well, for example about Ang's character how she knows all this or the claustrophobic element should have been much better or the bursting glass towards the end. This really made no sense at all and felt just included for drama purposes without a connection to reality. Shame. Or the boy who felt like having a much bigger story line early on, but yeah he was pretty forgettable I must say, so maybe it's good this way. All in all, it is a tolerable web series about which nothing stands out though. If you love the two shows, then go see it. Otherweise skip the watch. It is highly unlikely you have not seen any of these, so you won't need me to give you a recommendation here. I think it was okay at best.
