D 4 Delivery is starring and was written and directed by Heland Lee. It is a distressing and poignant short film about Jaime the Chinese food delivery man. Jaime has many challenges in his life beside the inherent dangers of his job, but he soldiers on doing his best anyway. Jaime's world is filled with dangers, getting caught by immigration, homophobia, and the danger of being robbed and beaten in his line of work.

The cruel violence in "D 4 Delivery" was completely neutralized by the tenderness of the vignette of our hero and his now absent lover. Seeing that New York was filled with memories of love and happiness for him as well as his everyday struggles both internal and external helped me to understand why he stays and faces the danger day after day. How he keeps going. Mr. Lee communicates so much with his directing style, with minimal dialog. The stark contrast between the frenetic New York City outside of his orderly little apartment gives the viewer the same sense of relief and tranquility the he feels. Again allowing the viewer to understand how he copes with his daily struggles.

D 4 Delivery is based on actual events that really happened to Chinese food delivery men in New York City. He ends the film by commemorating these brave, everyday people who were killed simply trying to earn an honest wage. It brings home how real and commonplace this danger is for some people. The list is way too long, and I don't mean he should have made it shorter, I just wish we all could have by saving them.

I liked this movie short a lot. The story is based on real events that happened to Chinese food delivery men in New York City. Too often they have been attacked and robbed, just for the small amount of money they have on them and often end up dead in the process. I live in the NYC area and have never heard about this in the news. I think it's because they are probably all immigrants — like the delivery man in the movie. Immigration is such a controversial topic today, mainly about lost jobs and taxes but this points out what happens when an illegal immigrant is attacked and then not noted by the media and community.

Another aspect of the story is that the delivery man is not an immigrant from China but a Venezuelan of Chinese descent. He's an outcast from the general American public and also from the immigrant Chinese community. There's a lot to think about from such a short time frame.

A bonus is the soundtrack of the movie, cool stuff that fits the moods of the scenes.

A thought-provoking piece on the plight of Asian delivery men. Filmed entirely in New York, this piece states the truth behind the perils Asian delivery men on the job. These men endure racial slurs, getting beaten by baseball bats and various violent acts. What may be a small issue to some is becoming a very relevant issue to the Asian community. In the last 5 years, many Asian delivery men have been killed senselessly by being beaten, shot, stoned or thrown in the river. This film made such an impact on me that after I watched it, I felt angry and hurt. Its not just for delivery people, but for migrant workers from all over who suffer abuse because they are working the measly jobs well-off people will never do.

I would like to see more documentaries like this that raise awareness.

This is a short but well made piece from a first time director that clearly has passion for the subject matter. I immediately felt for Jaime (delivery guy) and wondered throughout this film why he puts himself through all what he does to have a better life, freedom and to be himself. Already an outsider from his birth country of Venezuela, he finds himself in NYC not speaking English or Chinese. He seems always to be nervous and scared due to being an illegal immigrant to start with. His aunt is played very well and I get the idea she is not too happy about him being there but she finds him useful for her own reasons. No matter how hard NYC is though, Jaime battles through with a nervous but steely determination to make his own life. After his attack though, he comes back with a more powerful mind that says he will not give up with his new life, no matter what is thrown at him. I think the music is perfectly fitted in to the scenes where it is needed, especially the one happy moment of reprieve when Jaime is getting ready for his day off and you see his wall of pictures and happiness while he dances and sings. I think this film is a great way of bringing to peoples minds the story of all those other delivery guys in NYC that get murdered for their delivery money and nothing much seems to be done about it. It was very powerful to see Jaime recovered and back at his work and then see the names on screen of others that have died in the same way. Jaime was lucky, others were not.

Wow. What a wonderfully done little short. It got me involved right away. Being multilingual myself I understood all 3 languages. And I was shocked to know and learn the suffering and dangers these poor immigrants have to go thru.

In the case and story of our ill-fated hero Jaime(Heland Lee) who looks Asian but is of Venezuelan decent and only speaks his native tongue. He doesn't speak Mandarin or English yet he survives as best as he can. Dealing with the brutal and violent world and vicious people in it. I was glad to see him a survivor of the viciousness of racism. But also sad to know, at the end of the short, there were plenty of not so lucky individuals who were brutally attacked and killed for really no apparent reason but hate.

Director Lee (who also played Jaime) has shown us the viewer in a short time what is really happening out there to these poor and sometimes defenseless individuals. I applaud him for that. I wish this short would have been instead a feature film because I was also sad to see it end so soon. That's how involved I became with it. Kudos Mr. Lee, you are one to watch for in the future. Good luck!

Story regarding someone who is from a different country and unable to speak English. Makes the character vulnerable to all sorts of people who want to exploit anyone that is different or they fell is defenseless. This story touches on a real life situation that happened for way too long in New York. Too many people died just doing their job. it was a complete act of bravery just to get up and go to work as a delivery person, especially if you were of Asian descent. This movie was riveting in that, it cut right to the chase of how this character was putting his life in danger every day by doing his job. You knew how it felt to be different and to appear and be vulnerable. Story very well told with great truth and compassion.

This story is about a Venezuelan of Asian descent. While he looks Asian and works for a Chinese restaurant, he knows neither English nor Chinese--and making deliveries is really tough, as he can only talk to Spanish speaking customers. As a result, he's rather isolated and an easy target for scams and dirt bags wanting to beat up a foreigner for kicks. Because you learn at the end just how true this story it, the net effect is very powerful and moving--though I was left wondering why this man didn't possibly get a job from someone who speaks Spanish--it is probably the second most commonly spoke language in the city.

Well made, interesting and with an excellent point to make, this is a very good short film considering the director/writer/producer is inexperienced.

What an extraordinary short! The main character was well developed which allowed me to emotionally connect with him. This is very difficult to do in a short. The fact that the story is based on true events, that are tragically all too real in NYC, also helped to make the experience real for me. This film does a great job in highlighting these awful crimes while honoring the victims.

The great music and the cinematography aided in supporting the story. As a viewer, I was instantly and effortlessly drawn into the film and felt like I was a true observer in someone else's story.

Kudos to the actors and director! What a FANTASTIC first short for Heland. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next!!!
