In the near future, Dr. Helen Monroe, an idealistic neuroscientist, is recruited to treat a mysterious patient suffering from severe amnesia, by using a neural-interface form of therapy that plunges the patient into movie scenarios. Gradually, Monroe realizes that her patient is actually a prisoner - of a conspiracy to control the human race via brain implants - and, like it or not, she herself is one of the conspirators.
