Trailers "DuckTales: Remastered (2013)"
DuckTales (1987) voice actors Alan Young and June Foray were 94 and 96 years old when they recorded their voices as Scrooge McDuck and Magica DeSpell for the game.
This is a remake of the DuckTales (1989) video game, but with an expanded storyline and improved graphics.
Count Dracula von Duck bears a distinct similarity to Count Duckula (1988), an animated series about a vampire duck.
Scrooge uses the Latin phrase "e pluribus unum". This means "Many uniting into one".
Initially there were no initial plans to include voice acting, but Disney stated a few months into development that some of the original voice actors from DuckTales (1987) could be enlisted. The creators expanded the script to accommodate this addition.
Some of the stages are based on DuckTales (1987) episodes:
- The Himalayan stage is inspired by DuckTales: Lost Crown of Genghis Khan (1987), where the McDucks encounter a female yeti who has the crown with her.
- The African stage is inspired by DuckTales: Earth Quack (1987), where the McDucks encounter an underground kingdom of athletes who make earthquakes.
- The space stage is inspired by DuckTales: Where No Duck Has Gone Before (1987), where McDuck goes to space and encounters alien beings.
For promotion of the game, Capcom sent 150 limited edition lunchboxes to different members of the gaming press. Each lunchbox contained a gold NES cartridge, a coupon for the Green Cheese of Longevity, and a fake ad for an upcoming cassette soundtrack. All items were padded into the box by a ground made of actual (but shredded) US dollar bills.
Chris Edgerly, Brian George, Wendee Lee and Eric Bauza voice the characters of Gyro Gearloose, Flintheart Glomgold, Mrs Beakley and Fenton Crackshell, replacing their previous and deceased voice actors Hal Smith (who originally did both Glomgold and Gyro) who passed away in 1994, Joan Gerber who passed away in 2011, and Hamilton Camp who passed away in 2005.
Magica De Spell mentions that she still gets carried away. This is a reference to Magica's debut animated debut in DuckTales: Send in the Clones (1987) where everybody mentioned that she "gets so carried away."
The enemies are modeled after other Disney characters:
- the rabbits in the Himalayas resemble Thumper from Bembis (1942).
- the bees in the Amazon resemble Buzz-Buzz from various Donald Duck cartoons
- and the snakes resemble Kaa from Dziungliu knyga (1967).
Final Performance of Chuck McCann, Frank Welker, Terence McGovern, Russi Taylor and June Foray as Duckworth, Burger, Bouncer, Bigtime, Baggy, Bubba, Launchpad, Webby and Magica respectively, as well as the only performance of Brian George, Chris Edgerly, Eric Bauza and Wendee Lee as Glomgold, Gyro, Fenton/Gizmoduck and Mrs. Beakley respectively. Russi Taylor and Alan Young though had their final performances as Huey, Dewey, Louie and Scrooge respectively 3 years later in the Mickey Mouse (2013) shorts.
Talk to Launchpad and let him bring you back when the fifth digit of your score is 7, (or 70,000 points) and you will access a secret level.
