for me, it is one of films who builds walls of reality. a film about price of freedom, faith, sacrifice and love as duty/need. long time ago, I read the biography of Maximilian Kolbe. than, I discover the play by Eugene Ionesco. last step - this movie. so, a circle. or more. because each film, like each book or meeting is a mirror. nothing else. and the image is not always ours.the film of Zanussi is a testimony. a Polish Franciscan. a vocation. a war. and Auschwitz. a fight and a death. as part of two existences. as part of a world. not a lesson but a parable. about force and root of word. about structure of gestures. about expectations.and guilty. nothing else. only a camp and two men. and the choice .
