This is what every Porn movie should be measured against.The scene with Ginger Lynn is the best sex scene ever filmed.The scene with Ms.Lords(I seen it before the scandal broke)is also great.Great use of Music and colors.There are 3 different versions of this film 1-The Original-Which is now Illegal,unless you live in Canada.By far the best version. 2-The version without Traci Lords-Just That,Full movie minus Traci devil scene.VHS released shortly after scandal. 3-The last released version-I bought a version a few years ago only to find not only was the Traci scene gone(expected).But they had edited some of the more Racial dialogue out,Not redubbed,but they actually used "Donkey Sounds" in one exchange over the Offensive words!It's a porn movie already! Also disappointing was any "Bondage"or "restraining" scene's were now edited out.AVOID THIS VERSION AT ALL COST!!!!! I guess if you wan't to see the real version you'll have to go to Canada.It's worth it.

New Wave Hookers is great because of the way it is presented. The movie never takes itself too seriously, like some of the other early to mid eighties pornos. Jack Baker and Jamie Gillis are hilarious in this flick, as two pimp daddies makin' cash and playing that new wave music. And speaking of music, the soundtrack featuring the Sockets and the Plugs will have you humming (no pun intended, sorry Mr. President) all the way to work the next day. This is way pornos should be, and they just don't make them as well anymore (not even NWH Part 5). A classic! Ya gotta love Ginger!

This flick is considered one of the real milestones in porn. It had this edgy, punk rock sound track as opposed to the lousy elevator music you normally hear with most porn flicks. There were two outstanding performances in this film.

• One features an unknown Ginger Lynn in her first on-screen double penetration.. Ginger is a beautiful young hooker servicing two geeky college guys. If you never see anything else with Miss Lynn, you gotta see her in this movie.

• The other clip is a threesome that had to be edited out because it featured Traci Lords, who was under 18 when they filmed the scene. (I saw the unedited version of NWH when it was still legal and Lords performance was so incredible.)

Jamie Gillis and Jack Baker play two friends who talk about how cool it would be to be pimps and concoct an idea of opening an escort service called New Wave Hookers, Inc. whereby all of their girls would be programmed to have wild sex by listening to new wave music. They subsequently fall asleep and coincidentally dream about the same thing. When Jimmy (played by Jamie Gillis) awakens and discusses his dream with Jamal (played by Jack Baker) and realizes they dreamed the same exact dream, Jimmy leaves, only to come across dream-girl Kammy (played by Kristara Barrington) in real life, leaving Jimmy (and viewers) wondering how much of it was actually a dream. It's a little light on plot, but it's a good concept. Story Grade: B-.

This feature was shot on film and had a theatrical release. It would be great if this movie would be re-released in a remastered widescreen format, even though it wouldn't be the original version given Traci Lords' age during production. Medium Grade: A.

Set designs were sparse, but were consistent with a post-modern theme. There was no attempt to make the majority of the scenes realistic, since they were to be dream sequences. The driving scenes on Hollywood Boulevard and environs looked great and bonus point for including a Big Boy statuette. Set Design Grade: B.

The sexual performances were all pretty hot and well shot. Performances were enthusiastic. The Ginger Lynn scene with Tom Byron and Steve Powers was probably the most memorable. Sexual Performance Grade: A.

Unfortunately, the girls didn't have all that much acting to do outside of their sex scenes. However, Jamie Gillis and Jack Baker were excellent. Some today might take offense to some of the racial stereotyping going on, as well as Gillis' in-dream performance of using an Asian accent. But they were nevertheless entertaining and I don't believe there was any malice intended. The absurdity of Steve Powers also playing the dog was an interesting choice. Acting Grade: A-.

The wardrobe and make-up looked excellent and successfully represented hookers influenced by the "new wave." Wardrobe/Make-Up Grade: A.

There were a couple of times when movement of the c-light was noticeable. Otherwise, the scenes were lit appropriately. Lighting Grade: B.

The music for this movie was phenomenal. The most popular track was probably "Electrify Me" by The Plugz but "New Wave Hookers" by The Socketz was also a great song. There were other good songs featured, most likely also by The Socketz, but they were unfortunately not listed in the credits. Having an official soundtrack released for this movie, even 30 years on, would be a worthwhile endeavor. Sound Grade: A.

This movie, although low on plot, worked on many other levels. Gregory Dark did an excellent job. Directing Grade: A-.

Without a doubt, there is artistic merit to this feature. Although the sets were sparsely adorned, there was thought put into what they should look like. They were believable for the world in which they existed. Having most of the movie take place in a dream state made it highly stylized. Artistic Merit Grade: A.

OVERALL GRADE: A-.

I've never quite understood the appeal this particular porn flick has had with fans. It's often poorly lit, the camera shots are often bad close-ups, and the acting and costumes are horrible (granted, the costumes only because this isn't 1984 anymore).

Basic story is simple enough: Two guys fall asleep watching a porno and dream the same thing, that they're running an escort service. The entire plot revolves around them getting phone calls and sending a girl out to the caller. That's it.

There were originally six sex scenes in this film, but of course, the Lords scene was deleted (and I have not seen it). The remaining five in current prints range from the bad to the actually-okay. The first scene, with Desiree Lane as something of a prototype for BOOGIE NIGHTS' Roller Girl has its moments, and Lane is hot. The second scene, involving a Shiek and two girls, is fairly boring. The third scene, in which a then-rookie Ginger Lynn Allen visits two nerds and gets manhandled by them, is the best of the film. I've never been a fan of Ginger from this period (I really only got to like her after her comeback years later), but this is probably her hottest scene. Also look for a very young Tom Byron as one of the nerds. Byron, I've come to realize is a master of disguise, as he looks different in every single film I've ever seen him in. A couple more sex scenes are fairly non-descript, including the orgy finale with the pimps, the girls and the feds that came to bust them.

I just don't see what the hype about this one is about.

I haven't ever seen the version of this with Traci Lords as the devil. It might have been at the movies, but that version might have been re-cut, too. Now I remember. The Traci/devil scene was shown while I was in the men's room, but the rerun was recut. Most of the trash talk between Jamie Gillis and Jack Baker seems to have been read from bathroom walls, too. It was really a plus for Traci to have her five minutes clipped out. Much has been made of the Ginger Lynn scene with two frat boys, one of which is Tom Byron. Ginger considers it her favorite and is rumored to warm herself up to another film shoot by watching it. Without this part the movie is somewhat cheap and weakly plotted. Steve Powers plays a dog that makes a sound like the phone's ringing. Cheap enough? The girl in roller skates comes across second best, and the three girls doing some belt tie bondage on a turntable is one to skip unless you're a fan of that genre. Like others have noted, poor lighting and closeups in the wrong places or not enough of them keep this from rising above the run of the mill. PS: I've seen the Traci Lords as the devil version again a few days ago. With that, I give the movie 8 stars.

NEW WAVE HOOKERS is definitely not amongst my favorite "golden-era" porn films, but it is an off-beat and fun bit of whack-fodder that's worth a look to those who enjoy material of this nature.

Jimmy (Jamie Gillis, in another decent but not quite "stand-out" role), and his buddy Jamal dream up the scheme to ho chicks out by brainwashing them with New Wave music. Jimmy and Jamal put their plan in motion with the help of their psychic-pal, "the dog", and a few willing hookers...

The real stand-out of NEW WAVE HOOKERS is Ginger Lynn, who is the hottest hooch in the bunch. She also gets her first on-screen DP action, courtesy of Tom Byron and Steve Powers. A young Peter North also has a notable scene where he unloads about four gallons of spunk on one of the hookers, as is his trademark. Though Gillis' role as Burt, the enema-bandit in WATER POWER will always be my favorite, he does a commendable job in this film as well, though the goofy Chinese accent that he chooses to employ for 90% of the film gets old after a bit. My copy is also devoid of the Traci Lords scene (as she was underage at the time that NEW WAVE HOOKERS was filmed, and her scenes have been chopped from current copies), which is disappointing as well. Check this one out if you're in the mood for a bit of silly humor to go along with your raging boner...7/10

I remember watching this film in the eighties as a teenager. But i wanted to see it again, because Traci Lords is now earning a living as a "serious actor". What the hell was going on in the eighties? This is a really bad film with bad taste and bad actors. Definitely a waste of money.

Now First Off, Gregory Dark Didn't Start Off As A Horror Movie Director (See No Evil) or Music Video Director (Bone: Thugs-N-Harmony, Brittney Spears, Xzibit), Him and His Brother (Geoffry Dark) Used To Pump Out Some Of The Best Adult Films To Come Out Of The Eighties. Example Given, New Wave Hookers Is One Of The Dark Brothers' Early Adult Films They Directed and By Far Their Best.

This Film Starts Off With Two Guys Who're Watching A Porno Movie and Fall Asleep Watching It. They Dream That They Are Running A Bordello Named New Wave Hookers Inc., and Send Out Girls To The Customers As Long As They Play New Wave Music To Have A "Good" Time. This Movie Stars Adult Film Legends Ginger Lynn, Jack Baker, Jaime Gillis, Desiree Lane, and Peter North In Erotic Scenes That Make You Wanna See This Movie Again and Again. It's Said That Actress Traci Lords Was In This Movie and Her Scene Was Cut Due To Controversy and Being Underage, But It's Still A Great Movie.

Other Than This Being A Great Movie, It Has A Great Soundtrack As Well With Music From The Plugz and The Sockets. To Get This Movie Now At Days, You Can Purchase A Remake Of This Movie and This Classic Comes With It. I Recommend Throwing Away The Remake and Keeping The Classic Cuz The Remake Has Nothing On The Original. I Give This Movie A 10/10 Cuz This Was The First Porn I Ever Bought on VHS and Recently Got It On DVD.
