Short summary

Based on the life of Franz Ponweiser, a tramway driver in Vienna and father of actress Christine Renhardt. He became famous in the Fifties when he, after being fired by the public traffic company, abducted several tramways at night and drove them through the whole city on his own (thus in a sort inventing the first "night line"). For the film the location of the events was changed from Vienna to Berlin. Unlike his alter ego Franz Lehmhuhn in the movie, the real Franz Ponweiser never got his job back and died poor and forgotten in the Seventies.
