The self-taught amateur actor and former university student, Anders Torgaard moved to Copenhagen in search of the big breakthrough as an actor. His girlfriend Liv, struggles to maintain her enthusiasm about Anders' career and worries more and more about the couple's future income as Anders' unemployment benefits will soon expire. Livs sister, Irma, who hates Anders, temporarily crashes on their couch while searching for a new place to live. This doesn't make life easier for Anders, but with his indomitable optimism and lack of self-awareness, he is willing to do almost anything to get his breakthrough. A new obstacle arises, however, when Liv tells him she is pregnant.
