Short summary
During the monologue, Doc notes that his son is getting married over the weekend. There is no comedy segment; Johnny and Ed continue their discussion from the previous night's show about whether a tree falling makes a sound if no one hears it, and Johnny reads a scientist's letter laying out both points of view. Ricky Schroder is introduced, and immediately takes Ed's side that it does make a sound; he also gives Johnny a Lung Association T-shirt for clean air, and Johnny comments that he'll forgo smoking tonight.
