Biopolitics of Michel Foucault is a perfect research framework for examining the case of the confirmation process for the Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh. On one hand, we see how much fear and expectation toward regulation of the human body will depend on his confirmation. On the other hand, all the world observes the private life of one person who seeks promotion for a life-time position. The job seeker, Mr. Kavanaugh, was forced to share publicly a lot of private information, such as his health, social contacts, sexual past, drinking habits and many others things that regular employers don't have the right to ask. Usually an employer can be sued for asking questions not relevant to the job position. This interview with Martha MacCallum continues to dig into the nominee's personal life so deeply and for so long that it's hard to find examples of this in US history. What's so curious in this case is that official hearings are not long enough to examine how a person would fit into a position on the Supreme Court. The job seeker uses the partisan media to prove his integrity and disprove some rumors and non-evidence based allegations. Because the confirmation process turned into "The Salem Witch Trials", Martha's interview on cable TV helps the nominee defend himself from this kind of public inquisition. MacCallum is a bit hard with her guest on the show, however, the answers in this interview provide a contribution to the nominee's credibility.
