Trailers "Kicking the Dog (2009)"
Based on writer-director 'Scooter Lammey''s life, the "ranch dressing" scene was actually "mayonnaise" when it occurred in real life. The condom scene was also nearly identical to the actual event.
Shot in 20 days, 18 1/2 of those at 'Scooter Lammey''s parents' home.
The movie was shot mostly during the day with all windows covered to imitate night time so 'Scooter Lammey''s parent's could return to their house at night to sleep.
Actor Brendan Wynne, who portrays "The Chubby Kid", didn't know how to ride a bike and crashed into the porch in the first take of the 'Husky Daughter" scene. He was then aimed away from the house so he only had to go a few feet before leaving the frame.
The 'Husky Daughter' scene, in which Ronald doesn't know the girl's name, is based on a time writer/director Randy Scooter Lammey went to a girl's house for a date and couldn't remember the girl's name when the father opened the door.
Writer/Director Randy Scooter Lammey's Mom repainted the entire interior of the house to provide a better backdrop for filming and lighting. She then repainted it again after the movie was completed to hide the damage from the shoot.
Scooter's parents never read the script, knew the content of the movie, or even saw a trailer until he premiered the movie for 200 of his friends and family.
Real beer was used during the exterior party scenes, resulting in some of the actors actually being drunk during the scenes they were "acting" drunk.
Played opening night at the Drake Film Festival in Bagnoli, Italy in 2009.
Two of the three songs on the soundtrack by Tom Karpovich - "Donna Jean" and "Jailhouse Blues" - were recorded in about 1978, but the original master was destroyed in a fire. The songs were dubbed from an LP record onto a CD and included in the movie, which explains the "scratchy" sound of a needle on a record. The third song "Let's Get Drunk Together" was re-recorded for the movie.
A sign that reads "No DOGS ALLOWED" hangs above Satchem's bed.
The MPAA rejected numerous posters and DVD box covers due to the girls on the cover appearing to be naked. Eventually the cover was re-shot with actors who do not appear in the movie.
